I know you know, but I have to ask it. Make sure there is gas. :). If so then it could be the thermo-cuppling. this has to heat up first to let gas come in. hope this helped. :)

Hello.i spilt water on superser gas heater and now switch does not ignite fire. what can I do

It will probably be ok when it finally dries out. Unless you are competent to partially dismantle it and help with towels and warm air from a hairdrier waiting is all you can do.

Meanwhile you will be able to light the fire manually with a match - just turn it on and hold down the knob or button to send gas to the pilot light and apply a lighted match so the pilot light and one burner is alight or as usual. When the pilot light has been on for perhaps a few seconds to half a minute it should remain on as usual.

If the radiants got wet I advise you to run the fire for only a minute or two initially and then when it is thoroughly cold another couple of minutes and repeat until you are confident the radiants are quite dry. You should then be able to use the fire, lighting with a match until the spark begins to work again.

If for some reason there is a yellow flame or soot begins to appear it would be wise not to use it until it has been serviced and certainly never use it in a small enclosed space that is unventilated.

No pilot light can be seen on a wv8840a water heater

To have fire you need gas and spark. Either the gas is not being supplied or the spark is not being supplied. If you do not see a spark when the ignition button is pressed, then spark is not being provided. Check the batteries and also the battery box contact points.

If you get no pilot at all, check to see if any gas is getting through the pilot assembly. Try a very long match or butane fire place igniter while it is sparking.

I was called out because a tennants water heater wasnt working. I tried to restart the pilot. but nothing happened. I checked the gas line and it was getting gas. I checked the electronic starter and it...

if the heating element is out, the pilot will try and start , but if the thermocouple in the unit itself isn't letting the gas release,, it isn't going to fire up , Check the thermocouple , if its built into the controller valve,, your either going to have to replace that ( if its possible on that unit,, ) or get a new water heater

Water not hot even thermostate turned to high. The pilot light is on. Shoulder I be able to visualise the burner actually firing.,or hear it firing. I can see the pilot light clearly. Please help

If you have cold water now, you should hear the unit fire up and run while heating water. Proceedure would be; pilot is lit with thermostat at pilot setting. Once pilot is lit, you turn up to desired temp setting and you should hear the heater running. Depending on lighting, you should be able to see it slightly brighter and may flicker some while heating.
