try a secondary battery as well as a second charger (I believe the pearl uses micro USB, which is also used by bluetooth headsets, other phones, and pcs- you could even plug it into a pc with the cable to see if it charges)
If neither works, the phone is unfortunately dead. However if the battery works, bad battery. If the different charger works, bad charger
Check the charger. If it's in good condition. You probably have a dead battery. Dead as in the battery is gone and done, and you may have to get a new one.
Try a different charger (like your car charger instead of your home charger) - make sure while it's plugged in - the display shows that the charger is charging it, blinking - or bars going up or down, or a thunderbolt on the display screen next to the battery power symbol etc
Once you know your charger is working, its probably easiest to find someone else with a BB and ask them if you can trade them batteries for a day to see if it's a bad battery. ( You can usually buy a battery for $5 on ebay, or up to $20 in a cell phone store)
All in all, trade someone for their battery, or their charger - if you dont wanna buy one at first. See if the problem follows your old battery etc..
And if neither solve your problem then its the BB itself. I have called in to the cell company before and let them know we have a BB that will not hold a charge no matter what battery or charger I use... and they usually replace it under warranty as long as its less than 12 months old, and the white squares in the battery compartment are still white.
are you using the charger that came with the BlackBerry?
cause sometimes that can make a difference.
otherwise you might just need to get a new charger.
and usually the wall chargers work the best.
i had a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 and the same thing happened to mine.
Your most likely going to have to buy a new phone my blackberry pearl did the same thing and it was because something was wrong with the inside of the charger port mine would say it was charging for all of about 5 seconds then disappear or you can go to your phone company and tell them that it is messed up and ask them for more batteries. good luck hope i helped :)
