My garage door opener reaches the laser beam and goes back up

Everytime I press the control to close the garage door, it goes up once it reaches the laser beam. I have reset it several times, but it still won't close. I also have been adjusting the laser beam and still can't get it to close.

Hi,
Have checked to make shur nothing on the Door is sticking out into the path of the beam. Most door I know of are set so that anythig breaking the beam, while the door is in motion, will send it back up. the beam dosnt stop being looked at till the doors been all the way closed for a second or two.

You might want to look at the part of the door that reaches the laser just before it goes back up, it dosent take much to break the beam, a piece of string could do it.

Hope this Helps
Gem

Make sure the small light on each door sensor is lit and not flickering. If one or both of them is not lit then either they are not aligned properly or have gone bad. It could also be the wiring to the sensors.

How to get my garage door to open all the way?

Three blinking lights & door won't close by Candi
(Winston-Salem, NC)
Garage door will not open and close with remotes. Three blinking lights occur when we try to close door. What does this mean? It is a Linear unit.

I will assume you mean that your garage door will open with your remote but will not close. It should close if you press and hold the wall control button until the door is fully closed.

If that is the case, the 3 blinking lights indicate that your garage door's infrared safety beams are not properly aligned.

1) Check that the operator has power. The green lights on the sender and receiver should be lit.

2) If the receiver's green light is on, but the red light is off, the receiver has power but is not detecting the infrared beam from the sender. The red light might flash when the beam is partially detected. This can be caused by
mis-alignment or something blocking the beam.

Adjust the safety beam sender and receiver while watching the receiver's red light (stay out of the beam while aligning it). When the red light stays on, the beam is aligned and your garage door should operate normally.

http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/LCO75.pdf

NOTE: If the receiver's red light remains off, check for:

1) Dirt on the receiver's lens,

2) Sunlight shining into the receiver's lens,

3) A short in the safety beam wiring (from staples or at the operator terminals).

Once the garage door reaches about a foot off of the ground it stops and opens again everytime. It's not the safety laser guide. How do i fix it

Release the door from the opener and operate by hand. Does it bind or get hard to move near the point where it reverses? Increase the down force just a bit.

My liftmaster will open with the remote but to close the door, we have to hold down the wall unit. It starts to close, jerks to a stop, then we have to press and hole the button and it closes.

Hi, it is probably the safety photo beams out of alignment or not working, when this happens the garage opener goes into 'dead man' operating mode, ie you need to keep the button pressed for the door to operate. Door goes down and when it stops at botton, it turns and goes back up ??? Need adjusting ..How can I adjust???

Adjust the position of the door by using the black and purple buttons. Black moves the door UP (open) and purple moves the door DOWN (close)
Setting the up position: 1. Press and hold the black button until the LED starts flashing slowly, then release. 2. Push and hold the black button until the door reaches the desired UP (open) position 3. Push the door control or programmed remote control. This sets the Up (open) position and begins closing the door. 4. Immediately when the door begins to close press and release the black or purple button. This will stop the door Setting the Down position: 5. Push and hold the purple button until the door reaches the desired DOWN (Closed) position. 6. Once the door is closed, If there appears to be too much pressure on the door, you may toggle the door back and forth using the black and purple buttons to reach the desired closed position. 7. Push the door control or programmed remote control. This sets the Down (closed) limit and the door should open.

Check to see if your child/animal security beam is working correctly. It is an "Electric Eye" mounted about 12 in off of the floor on two mounting points and one side shoots an infra red beam across to a receiver. These points must be reasonably aligned to flash a beam (cannot see) from one point to another. This beam keeps the door open if it is interrupted . If it is not aligned, then the door opener sees a problem and will not close the door electrically. You must aligned the beam by bending the transmitter or receiver untill you can close the door by the remote. Also check to see if something placed in the garage is not blocking the beam first.

IF THE DOOR INFACT BRAEKS THE BEAM THE EYES NEED TO BE MOUNTED FURTHER AWAY FROM THE WALL. ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE ACTUAL DOOR HARDWARE.
IF THE DOOR IS NOT PHYSICALLY BREAKING TH BEAM SEE IF THE TRACK MOVES/TWISTS WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES THIS MAY TURN THE EYES OUT OF ALIGNMENT FAR ENOUGH TO REVERSE THE DOOR.

Must hold wall unit to close garage door...

there is an error in the system. most likely The safety beams (mounted on the track near the floor) are out of alignment and the LED light should be blinking. The garage door opener will not let the door close if the beams are misaligned. Realign them and the LEDs on the beam or on the operator will stay on. you should be able close the door now with one push.

Remote does not open or close garage door; inside button flashes

What has happened is that you electric eyes are blocked or have gone out. The eyes are at the garage door about a foot of the ground on both sides. There should be a red or green light on one of them. If not some thing is blocking the beam that goes across the door. It is a safety beam so kids can nt get hurt when the door is coming down. If the beam is broke the door will go back up.

you did not give enough info. If it closes completely and right away goes up, if bulb blinking. if it is, something on door is blocking safety beam. If light is not blinking, DECREASE down travel.
