When I insert my pen drive then, in place of the name of my pen drive it shows 'Removable Disc'. On double clicking it shows 'Please insert a removable disc'. If I go to see the properties 'used space' and 'free space' both show zero. This way I am facing problem in opening my pen drive. Please help me to recover it... Thanks

There are lots of viruses available that gets distributed with the help of USB per drives or portable hard drives.
So here is a useful tip which can be kept handy to prevent them from infecting your System.
Do not double click to open a removable drive or the portable hard drive or pen drive. Always right click and select explore from my computer. This is because, the virus would have created Autorun scripts that will get executed when double clicked. The scripts infects your computer with the same virus.
Once the removable drive is opened by selecting explorer, Navigate to Tools > Folder Options > Views. Find the radio button to show hidden files and folders. and also uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types"
Now of you find some new unknown files in your removable disk, try deleting them permanently by pressing shift+DEL. If it fails, copy required files from your device and then format the drive.
may be the flash drive is locked...unlock the pendrive and then try again. formatting can be done in other way. goto run, type cmd, press enter, then type format f: in the cmd and press enter.this formats the drive
The card will be read on the computer as a removeable drive. Go to "My Computer" and look for the removeable discs that will be listed as well as the disc you inserted may have a name like sandisc, that may show up in "My Computer" as one of the drives listed. Double click on the drive to view the folders within. It works like any other file, you can copy, paste delete, etc.
