The touchpad has completely quite working. The indicator light for the on/off button above the touchpad itself is still lit up, however, it will not change from on to off. Does this issue require professional service?

Touchpad notworking

Have you tried reinstalling the driver, Also for now you can use a usb mouse in it's place. Rarely do touchpads stop working all together, also I may be wrong but the manual for that computer should also have a a way to turn on and disable the touchpad with a key or series of Keys.

Mine has a small button above the touch pad that turns it on and off.

Brand new computer touchpad not working

The blue light is mostly indicating that your touchpad is locked or 'off'. You can turn it on by pressing the 'Function key' (usuallly denoted Fn) and press one of the Fx (F1 - F12) keys with the touchpad lock option.

My touchpad on my gateway nv73 is locked. How do

This happened to me and I used a mouse - couldn't figure it out. Was using the 'users guide - link from the desktop and clicked on the troubleshooting guide. It mentioned a touchpad lock was included on 'some models'
So I scanned my keyboard and found nothing. I noticed that there was a picture lit up at the top of the keyboard - above the buttons. It's a rectangle with a hand pointing a finger over it. It's right where it shows you when your hard drive is accessed, cap's are on, etc.
It doesn't seem like a button but when you touch this picture it toggles the keyboard on and off.
This is the second time I had this problem - thank goodness I finally figured it out. Gateway should tell you where the buttons are cause they don't look like buttons - only like indicators

My mousepad's scroll feature is no longer working after I took my laptop to Best Buy and had them install a new harddrive under warranty

Right above the Touchpad is the On/Off button to Enable the Touchpad, or Disable the Touchpad.

If the Touchpad light is on, then the Touchpad is Enabled. (The On light is right above the Touchpad also)

Do you have the Touchpad enabled?

Touchpad not responding in netboook

There's a little button right above the touchpad. If the light on this button is orange, the touchpad is disabled. Press it again until the light is white again and your touchpad should work.

Touch pad doesn't work AT ALL!!!!

Hello there, Kasie!

Hopefully I can help. On laptops, there will *usually* be a "function button" one can press to disable the touchpad in the even that one wishes to use an actual mouse instead of the touchpad. -- This would be in the interest of not accidentally triggering clicks, or mouse movement when typing, etc.

Without knowing the make and model of your laptop, I can't tell you the precise button to press to re-activate your touchpad. On most laptops, you'll need to hold down the "Fn" key (usually at the bottom left or right of the keyboard) and then find the function key (top row of keys... F1, F2, F3, F4 and so-forth)... Look at your function key row. See if there is perhaps a key with a little "drawing on it" that looks like a touchpad.. like a horizontal rectangle with 2 smaller squares under the rectangle, representing the rectangular shape of the touchpad and the two "mouse buttons" beneath it... if you find something like this, it will likely be the one you'll need to press.

However, on some laptops, the button will be just above your touchpad... you'll be able to press it, and some sort of indicator light will either light up in red to let you know it's been deactivated, or white / green to let you know that it's currently activated.

One of my laptops which is an HP has the button at the top left corner of my touchpad.. I have to "double-tap" it to deactivate / reactivate the touchpad; while my Toshiba laptop has a button directly above the touchpad which I only have to press once. -- Both laptops have an indicator light as well. The HP's "double-tap button" will turn red / dark orange to let me know that I've deactivated it... With the Toshiba laptop, there is a light just below the touchpad area which is always lit up as a "bright white light bar" when active and simply not lit up when deactivated.

I wish you the best of luck with this, and hope I've helped you!

Left mouse click quit working

Hi

If this a laptop touchpad mouse button, I've had a similiar problem with a older laptop, the button was not getting touched properly, I had to press it harder a few times and it eventually started to work again.

There maybe something in between case and the button that is perventing it from being pressed completely.

If this doesn't help, try using a external usb mouse for example.
The laptop might need to be taken apart and the touchpad buttons looked at and possibly cleaned or the buttons / whole touchpad replaced to sort out the problem.

Thanks and good luck, let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a hp paVILLION DV 9000 laptop, have been using at work station so been using external wired mouse.no all of a sudden i have no curse controll at all with external or in built mouse.cant get control...

Check the touchpad on/off button at the top of the mouse touchpad on the laptop, it's small and can easily get turned off by accident and you will think your mouse has quit working. There is usually an indicator light next to it. I'm not sure but on your laptop I believe it may be a blue light when the button is on and turns orange when switched off.

The touchpad on my microwave has quit working.

possibly a stuck button which would mean a replacement pad, do the buttons bleep when you push them do some work and others dont its quite common normally its the start button or the cancel which goes(due to constant pushing) and it causes the error alternatively its a possible logic board fault which is far more expensive to replace!
