Question about Brother MFC-8840D All-In-One Laser Printer

Replacing front LCD panel

The Fax and Scan switches on the front panel PCB have broken - the buttons are OK but they cannot be depressed so I guess the switches underneath are dead.

I have identified that the replacement part as the LCD panel LG4383001, which looks easy to replace (two screws and some connectors), but I cannot work out how to remove the front control panel cover to do the work - anyone have any knowledge of this or a location where I can download a service manual.

Oh - and just before you freak out - I am a qualified electronics engineer!!

Many thanks for the reply - and it looked as if it would be so simple!

I did have a good look around the printer and had come to the conclusion that the top glass probably needed to come off - kinda reminds me of the early-days Olivetti/AT&T PCs - they were beautiful to look at, but not designed to come apart again for maintenance.

A Brother-recommended repair agent will do the job for £95 so I will probably leave it to them based on your feedback!

I may be keen, but I am now old enough to know when it's best to leave jobs to someone who's done it before - or an engineer who will suddenly realise they have been assigned the biggest PITA job of the week!

Looks easy to replace boy did you pick the wrong model, I've done this job, what a pain of a design, you just want to get to those four screws that hold that operations panel in, heres what needs to be done first, remove left rear corner covers(2) and disconnect wires cables that go to Doc feeder and scanner(27millon), unscrew and remove doc feeder, now you can take out scanner top with glass, from base to reveal screws for operations panel. flow chart below .. and dont order that part it is the LCD display only - you want number depends on country but i think the states is .LE8846001 , PANEL UNIT, MFC8840D FOR ASA/OCE not LG4383001 LCD

And dont swear when doing job remember your a qualified engineer!! have fun,
DX FEED ASSY(duplex)
(MFC-8840D/8840DN, DCP-8045D/
(3.5 (1) and (2) are contained.

p.s. the switch itself is a lot of the time ok it is the plastic arm part that breaks..

Good idea, not that you couldn't do it but I will admit that the first time I did it,I put one 3pin plug from doc feeder into the wrong 3pin socket, yup so clever is the design (and so well I was focused) that there is two same size sockets and the cables reach well to both too, but do it and you've done in a board, but you will only ever do it once!

What is sequence of events when power plug is applied? it's a MFC-6890CDW Printer. Should a motor start? Should power on/off button light?

Hi. Did this just start or were you doing something prior to the failure. Sequence is usually very quiet. Unit will do a self diagnostic, then printer carriage should move from rest to a complete right/left travel. Stop then it will do a ink check you may hear a high pitch noise, it's charging cartridges. If your plugged into power strip, plug into single outlet. Check plug for burns also if your on Wi-Fi turn out off, repower up. Do same if you are on cable re start. Your not getting a code so it's something physical in printer.

Sorry the tv it is worthless as a whole tv set.Very exspensive if tries to fixed.By replacing the tv LCD screen panel it is not possible, because the tv LCD screen panel will cost the same as a new tv.Because u only can buy the tv LCD screen panel by the tv corporation themselves only, they'll sell it to u but they charge u like a new tv for the LCD screen panel.Tv set now only can be used as salvage tv only for it PCB boards only now,for other tvs to used as salvage tv electronic PCB boards only for repair for other tvs as for PCB boards as parts that it.

My Sony KDL 4040W4100 Keeps turning off and then turns back on again durning a show... what is the problem?

These trouble is commonly caused by a rusty or dirty switch. It is easily to determine what switch, try to check the power switch or replace a new one. When replacing a switch open the back cover of your tv, try to locate the power switch by looking for the power button, It is connected in a small pcb together with the volume and channel button it is separated to the main pcb connected with a wire.

It wont turn on the button seems to be stuck in a unpushable position

You need to open it up and remove the switch PCB assembly from the front panel, then you will see the plastic power push button that is attached to the front panel by a couple plastic stems that were melted on to hold the button in place (cheapy way of making the monitor), you can try using the siliocne adhesive to hold the button in place since the silicone is flexible (that is what I use for fixing broken button/hinges)

Fax, Copy, Scan Buttons do not change

Sounds like switch inside operations panel has broken, there is no reset that will fix it, will need new operations panel.

the reset code on this machine is menu # 2 8 6 4 then maintence shows enter 99, the first bit must be done super quick.
