Diamond VC500 Capture Card Wont Record!?

Windows bugs... I would first remove the card and software and then reinstall. Update drivers under system devices. Try again. There may also be a menu to enable recording, allocate hard disc usage for recording etc.

VHS Recording

If it came with the Pinnacle software (Pinnacle Studio), that's what you have to use to move your movies from VHS to your PC.

I am attempting to download my home videos from my video camera to my computer. Everything seems to be working well except for one major problem. About every minute the recording stops and the message...

I think the camera that you are using is a high end camera which make its files copyprotected at some point when copying/burning.

To rectify this problem before you download the video file from your camera try to convert its format to any video format like .MPEG, AVI or any other format (doing this may lessen the video quality) after convering the video file download it.

Cheers . .

Sound is not in sync with picture after recording

Problem could be in the VHS transport. Check by connecting the VCR sound out to some speakers.

I get an error message everytime I try to record

There is a switch on the VCR that says "tape/other". Change the switch from "other" to "tape" and you should no longer receive this message.

Cant capture video

Not having camcorder control is normal, as the ADVC110 doesn't translate DV (AV/C) control to anything else. It just accepts and replies to deck control commands so the capture application doesn't get stuck waiting for a response.

First off, make sure you only have the ADVC110, your VCR, and your computer connected. No other Firewire devices.

Be sure your have the output from your VCR connected to the ADVC's input. Connect your VCR's output to your TV. You should see in iMovie the same image you see on your TV, slightly delayed.

Studio 9

Make sure that all background programs are not running on your computer. This includes, IMs, Anti virus, email programs. Defrag your hard as well. Your captured material may not be on contiuous file on the hard drive but fragmented into pieces.

What type of processor do you have in your computer and how much memory does it have?

Make sure that you run the PCI performance wizzard as wall as all calibration programs within Studio 9. Make sure that your DVD has recording enabled. This can be done by pressing my computer, pressing the right mouse button on the drive, select properties, select the recording tab, check enable CD recording on this drive. You may have to adjust the recording speed as well if the DVD player has trouble reading it.

No sound when recording

when you record on the vcr make sure you have connected the audio cables from the tv to your vcr. You might need to use the composite cable and audio cables together to get the best recording.
