Hello. i can assist you.
If the ice maker is producing ice poorly--making small cubes or too few cubes--you probably have a clogged water line, a defective water-inlet valve, or a defective ice maker mold thermostat that isn't cycling properly. Check these:

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

  • Check the freezer temperature. If should be 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker mold thermostat. Make sure that it's cycling properly.

Most of the time is the ice maker itself that is defective. inside ice maker is an small circuit board that freezes up, if you take ice maker out and leave it overnight out to melt any ice inside the board it may work after that.

Ice maker quit water line works intermittingly

icemaker quite? hire a new icemaker. industry joke sorry.
First things first, is it cooling ok? if yes then proceed.
im assuming it stopped making ice altogether, and not a matter of making ice but not dispensing.

If your ice bucket is located in the door itself, you have an electric eye icemaker system, which electronically determines if the bucket is full or not. this electric eye system, located on both side walls of freezer, consist of a transmitter board and a receiver board. you could have a problem with these boards, the icemaker itself, a bad water valve, or depending on the model year, a icemaker fill line that can get clogged with ice, but due to a faulty design, a fill tube heater must be installed.

if your bucket is not in the door, but located directly beneath the icemaker, then disregard the electric eye system info and the fill tube heater info as well.

Ice maker stopped making ice yesterday. I changed the water filter, but it still hasn't done anything There are no ice cubes jammed.

the icemaker line from the basement to the fridge may be bad, clogged or the little fitting they put on the water pipe to connect the plastic line to your fridge could have sentiment in it, clogging the water. Ice Maker needs a certain amount of pressure in line to work properly!

Ice maker makes too much ice

In my Kitchen Aid bottom freezer there is a metal arm(?) that I lift up to stop the ice maker from making ice. When I start running low on ice, I push the metal arm(?) back down for it to make ice again. Hope this is the solution for your Kitchen Aid too.

My icemake does not make ice

Hello.
It sounds like it is time to replace your icemaker. It is not requesting water and it is not going to restart once it fails. The part number is 2198597 and it is about 130 dollars. You can try to look around for a cheaper price but don't buy a generic unit. You will regret it.

Icemaker not making ice

Have you tried to turn off the icemaker and turn it back on? Or maybe even unplug the refrigerator for a few minutes in order for the icemaker to reset?

Icemaker makes ice, won't shoot it through the dispenser in door

We have a similar problem with ours and GE knows that they have put out defective units. The problem for us is that we used the water dispenser a lot and the water froze in the line, causing the ice to back up in the release chute. You need to get a tech out to look at the unit. Hopefully they will be kind and recognize what this is, a bad design that has generated numerous complaints and will get you a free fix. You might want to call a few places and ask questions about it before you have them send their tech out.

On the chance that this is not what I described, have you moved the ice bin around, taken it out and put it back in, checked for frozen slush at the bottom of the tray to make sure that it is not simply clogged? Don't put fingers in the tray while it is still in the fridge.

Icemaker just stopped making ice

As these ice makers cycle there is an arm that moves up while the ice is being freed from the ice maker. After the ice is dumped into the dispenser bin the arm continues a downward motion. If it encounters ice in the downward travel it shuts the ice maker off. If this arm is locked in the full up position the ice maker is manually shut off. Check this arm and make sure it is not locked in the up position.

Ice maker

By manually moving the ejector blades you have now broken the ice maker module. (The brain and the motor of the icemaker). Kitchenaid had a batch of thermostats that arent working properly in these Indoor ice makers. I reccommend getting an entire new IDIM icemaker. You will have the improved module whith stronger gears (however you still cannot manually move them) and the improved thermostat.
