Question about Washing Machines
Washer does not spin. What's wrong with the machine?
Wash cycle works then I can hear the timer moving. But when it gets to where it would spin before it does nothing. This machine has had a problem in the past in that the spin cycle would start but I'd have to lift the lid then put it down again sometimes to engage the tub to spin..
Sounds like a bad lid switch. If it works intermittently, could be loose. When you close the lid, the two parts of the lid switch line up which allows continuation of operation. You can bypass the lid switch by removing power to machine; locate the switch FOR THE LID ON THE MACHINE SIDE, remove the two wires and wire nut them together. MACHINE WILL RUN NORMALLY EVEN WITH THE LID OPEN.
