a) If webcam you can buy it, you can go to equipment see the camera open and go the option and you will the webcam taking you face.Try to put again the instalation disk.
b) if the webcam is integraded go to accesories and open the webcam or video or media and open and you will see you face with options and ready.

Click on the START menu then click on the 'My Pictures' folder. At the left side, you will see the 'Picture Tasks' then click on that take pictures from camera. have you updated your dirvers? there could be a later version on the manurfactur's (soz bad s.p) website... i had a logitech webcam that had to re-install the drivers everytime i unplugged it from the pc. i ended up getting a new webcam.. it also could be the programs skype and msn not reading the webcam when the other view program is open as it only works for one program @ a time....
