How old is dryer. drive belt may be slipping. Unit may have a faulty control that allows element to superheat. You have a potential fire hazard. What type of clothes are getting the burn marks? Should they be dried in a dryer?

MY FRIGIDAIRE ELECTRIC DRYER IS LEAVING BURN MARKS ON CLOTHES,WHAT IS CAUSING PROBLEM

Assuming that you have the correct temperature selected for your clothes, there are two likely causes:

If the clothes are showing randomly shaped burn marks, the dryer is overheating. This would be accompanied by a burnt smell on the clothes. The high limit thermostat is the culprit.

If the burn marks are dark streaks, the clothes are getting pinched between the drum and the inside of the dryer that does not move. This is caused by worn bearings, slides or rollers. Should you choose to repair this yourself, there is a great deal on a kit with all of the parts you need plus a new belt for only $32 here:

Whirlpool Duet dryer - "burn marks", "out of round" drum

It's not really BURN marks - it is the adhesive used to affix the felt. You can substitute for silicone to remedy this problem.
