My laptop Acer 5102 gives me the message : NTLDR

My laptop Acer Aspire 5102 gives me the message : NTLDR files are missing, press ctrl alt delete to continue, when pressing so, the same message comes over and over again, I was determine to replace the hard drive but the fact that the laptop shuts off after two minutes or so on its own. The power light comes back after another minute to give me the option of turning it on again only to find the same message on the black screen. My question is if a bad hard drive can shut the laptop or it is most likely that a different part is failing. The hard drive is a Hitachi HTS421212H9AT00
Thank you very much

I doubt the hard drive is at fault.
NTDLR is a file that Windows needs to "load".
Seems to me, you had an infection or made a configuration change on your computer that caused the NTDLR to get corrupted or deleted.
You need to REPAIR your Windows copy by using your Restore CD that comes with your laptop.
You don't mention what Windows version you're using.
Windows XP and Windows Vista use different ways to do this.

Acer aspire one restore failed: wont start now

the reason its saying,,ntldr is missing is because its lost somthing from the hard drive that it needs to run,it would have lost that when it stopd loading your windows.try it again and if it gives you..repair windows ,,,then do that.and it should do it because it should fint the missing file that it needs to carry on loading.

I get ntldr is missing on my netbook, help in simpliest of terms

Hi,
Pressing Ctrl, Alt and Del just restarts the computer.
"ntldr" is a windows boot file which has become corrupt and unreadable causing the computer to loop on boot up.
As far as i know that laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive so you can't fix the problem unless you have a external CD/DVD drive and a recovery CD.
Is the netbook still under warranty? If so take advantage of that and send it in for Acer to deal with.
If not you will need a recovery CD or Windows install disk, an external hard drive and some patience.
If you need anymore help or advice please post back.

Good luck.

My Satellite A40/A45 Series won't boot up.

If NTLDR is missing, you will need to do one of two things:

1) follow this link and follow instructions to create a NTLDR boot disc and get back up and running

or

2) boot to Windows CD and repair Windows installation

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

Computer crashed and will not restore.

if u tried installing windows from a CD onto the HDD and it still says missing ntldr. seems like a Bad hard-drive.

you can restart by pressing control-alt-delete.

then, try booting from windows CD and repairing the windows installation. if it gives u file copy errors.then, it is a HDD failure. get a new HDD.
