first turn off, then as soon as you press the power on button keep tapping F8 on the keyboard, you will then get a menu to boot in safe mode.

Touchpad AND KEYBOARD lock

I think there is a hardware/software conflict. Try running a registry cleaner in safe mode first.

Locked keybroad toshiba satellite C660

Try booting in safe mode and see if the keyboard is locked. Maybe the keyboard is bad.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.

Keyboard not functioning

The whole keyboard does not work? I know of nothing that disables the whole keyboard, except a virus.

Have you tried using the keyboard in Safe Mode to see if it works. If it works in Safe Mode, that means a virus has hijacked your keyboard.

Keyboard on laptop is locked

Keyboard is locked? No keys work or are you saying the Mouse and Touchpad is locked?

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if it is still happening.

Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.Sometimes a virus hijacks the keyboard or mouse. If any of the above did not solve your problem then run a virus scan.

I have a compaq nx6325. the keyboard is locked and i cant login - help??

By the keyboad being locked, you mean nothing is happening when you try to type?

Try powering off and on the system, and while it's powering on (before it gets to the windows logo) tap the F8 key repeatedly. If it brings up a menu, choose to Boot in Safe Mode. If you are able to type in here, then it's a software issue within Windows and we can move onto the next step so just let me know. Otherwise, if typing still doesn't work, looks like it could be a hardware issue and you would need to get a new keyboard for it.

Can't access laptop computer in safe mode, keyboard freeze up

Try booting your system from a LIVE cd like linux, a verson of Hiren's tools, or the UBCD (ultimate boot disc for windows). If your keyboard still freezes with the alternate OS, you may have a hardware malfunction.

Dell d410 laptop has a locked mousepad and when I turn it on.

The led, is indicating that the Numlock is engaged on the keyboard.
If the touchpad stops responding but keyboard inputs work, then the touchpad is either failed or disabled. If the keyboard is none responsive too, then the operating system has locked up and that is an entirely different issue. If the OS is locking up, try booting to SAFE Mode from the F8 menu and see if you can access anything. If still locking in Safe mode, you may end up installing Windows Again. If Safe mode works, then you can check event logs and edit MSCONFIG startup group and the like to find the SW issue
