Question about Sony PlayStation® 3 (80GB) Console
Ok, so my family and I are in the US for a couple of months and my brother brought his PS3 but somehow managed to forget the power cable. So we went to GameStop and bought a new one but a US one. When we plugged it in the only thing we seem to be able to get is a scrolling image of the game and it's in black and white. No matter what I do that's seems to be the best we're getting. Now I wasn't in the shop when he bought the new cable but apparently the guy said something about it might not work because of the difference in the UK voltage compared to the US. Also I've been looking up a lot of stuff and I was reading about how the tv might be NTSC and the PS3 is on PAL or something but I don't think that's anything to do with our problem. Although, I could be completely wrong. It's a rented house we're in and the tv's are pretty old. We're having the same problem with both tv's. I am really confused as to wether it's tv problem or a PS3 problem. I really am a novice with all this as you can probably tell. Any help would be appreciated.
I am an Australian ( 240v) and I took my PS3 to the Caribbean (110v - same as the US) and it worked fine as far as power concerned. However as I had the PS3 set to work on my TV back home (PAL) when I took it over there & plugged it in (NTSC) I had a similar problem. I fixed it like this: when the PS3 is turned off hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds it will reset the PS3's settings to defult and it should work on the system that it's connected to. Hope it helps
