Downloading photos to computer

The order of the photos is different from the camera to the computer files, used to be eactly the same. Now they are randomly added to my computer storage. How can I get them to go into the camera with the same numbers.
When the camera was new it was the same something has changed.

The answer is to change the internal setting of the camera to

show "storage device". Simple as that. It worked for me.

I have the same problem. My HP M437 puts them in sequence as taken. I purchased an M537 and it jumbles the order. I then purchased an M447 and it also jumbles the order when transferred to the PC. I have used several different computers and 3 different software programs, and it does not correct the problem. I can set it to a "disk drive", but then the business programs I need to use do not recognize the disk drive, so I end up transferring to a floppy (slow) disk then to business program. Help, I hope someone has a solution.

Many cameras have a "Setup" option where you can specify how the camera names or labels each new photograph. Other buttons or menu options you can look for would be Settings, File Names probably under a Menu option.

The other thing to consider is, how is your computer sorting the files? By name, date taken, date modified, size? Perhaps buy changing the way you're viewing the order of the files, you can make it match the order they were taken in.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Communication Error

It suggests that the USB socket on the camera is damaged.

It's not cost effective to repair it, so just remove the memory card from the camera and transfer files using an external card reader. It's usually a lot quicker this way as well.

My pictures are out of order. how can i fix that?

First, are you trying to view the photos on your camera, or is this after you've downloaded them onto your computer?

I took a look at my Cyber-Shot and it looks like it sorts photos strictly by the numbering sequence, not by date. I couldn't find a way to prioritize it to view by date in the playback menus either. Have you tried viewing them in index mode? You can do this by pushing the "Home" button while in playback mode. From there you can pick either single, index or slide show mode. If you have already tried this, do the photos still show up out of sequence?

If you are trying to view your photos on your computer, it's a simple fix, and it's only slightly different from Mac to PC. When you have the folder open containing all the photo files, simply click on the field at the top of the columns that you want to view them by, i.e., "file size", "file type", "date modified", etc.

I have the following message and I understand the problem may be with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 The appplication has failed to start because connAPI.DLL was not found. Re-install may fix the problem

Hi there.

Do one of the following solutions: Solution 1: Remove the NOKIAManager.mox file.

  1. Exit Photoshop Elements.
  2. Open the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\moxplugins folder.
  3. Move the NOKIAManager.mox file to the Recycle Bin, or another location such as your desktop.
  4. Restart your computer.
Note: The NOKIAManager.mox plug-in file is required for Adobe Photo Downloader to download photos from a Nokia mobile phone. If you use a Nokia mobile phone, use Solution 2. If you later decide to use a Nokia mobile phone, either move the NOKIAManager.mox file back to the original location or reinstall Photoshop Elements.
Solution 2: Install or reinstall the Nokia PC Suite software.

Note: Only use this solution if you connect a Nokia mobile phone to your computer.

In order to communicate with a Nokia mobile phone, your computer must have the Nokia PC Suite software installed. Install the software to allow Adobe Photo Downloader to communicate with the phone and download photos from it. If you have previously installed Nokia PC Suite but are still getting this error message, uninstall and reinstall the software or upgrade to a newer version. For more information about Nokia PC Suite, contact Nokia or visit the Nokia web site.

Solution 3: Disable Adobe Photo Downloader.

  1. Open the Organizer in Photoshop Elements.
  2. Choose Edit > Preferences > Camera or Card Reader.
  3. Disable the Auto Launch Adobe Photo Downloader On Device Connect option.
  4. Click OK.
Note: This solution will prevent Adobe Photo Downloader from starting when Windows starts, and it will not appear automatically when you plug in a camera, card reader, flash memory drive, or other memory device. When you plug in one of these devices, and in order to download photos into the Organizer, you will need to start Photoshop Elements and choose File > Get Photos or Videos > From Camera or Card Reader.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

You can go to this website and download the files you need in your computer in order to download the pictures.

The camera comes with a CD, If you don't have this photo share softwares in your computer, you won't be able to download. Also you can take your camera xd or sd card to a store with photo service and have your pictures on a CD. From the CD you can download to the computer.

Recover deleted photos

I have had success with this... Download Asoftech photo recovery program

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

S40 JPEG Problems

I haven't had this particular problem before, but I have had a similar one. For some reason, my card reader couldn't read beyond 256MB. The solution was to download the photos from the camera to the computer until I bought a card reader that worked better. Photoshop Elements gave me a similar error to your's, but I don't remember the exact message. Some things that I would try in order to isolate the problem: Can you review the photos using the camera? Can you view the photos on the computer using something other than PCS? (Like...thumbnail preview in Windows XP or the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) Does this problem occur when you use the camera to transfer the photos? Does this problem occur when you use a different card reader? Does this problem occur when you use a different computer? If you are using a large SD card, does this happen when you use a smaller capacity card? This would get you on the right track to figure out if it is the camera, card reader, or software that is giving you the trouble.
