Iif you still can access everything apart from a disc when you insert it then you need a complete new laser and carriage my friend. I know because I just repaired mine. there are plenty of help videos on youtube also. just remember if it's under guarentee let Sony repair it, if not then do it yourself, it's not that difficult and is a lot cheaper than a new one. i paid £55 off ebay.

My cd player wont take cd

CD players do a little POST before they show you the disc contents. The disc first spins up then the laser head skips across to read the index with is generally on the inside track near the center. If the CD doesn't spin or the head doesn't move the CD player will auto-eject the CD. I'd have that player serviced or replaced.

Can't eject disc

if you don't see a hole for the emergency eject even after you open the door, you may have to go online and download the driver to be reinstalled.

Hey my mac won't eject a disc. i have tried a lot of stuff and nothing happened. when i restart it the disk spins and doesn't sound stuck and when i used disk utility it said there was an error...

Resolution Tip: Make sure the CD or DVD disc is not in use. Quit all applications that are using files on the disc.
  1. Press the Media Eject key at the top-right corner of the keyboard.
  2. If that doesn't work, drag the disc's icon to the Trash.
  3. If that doesn't work, restart the computer, then hold down the mouse button or trackpad button while the computer is starting up, until the disc is ejected.
To restart, choose Restart from the Apple menu.

When loading a dvd it displays, "NO DISK". Is it

Hello
There are mainly three motors for most of the DVD players. One to spin the disc we insert in, other to load the laser pickup unit to-and-fro inside it to read the disc and an other one to load the tray mechanism 'in-out'. According to your description, the disc spins inside, and you can hear its spin. So motor which spins the disc has no trouble at all I should say. Then comes to the second motor that moves the laser assembly inside it. If it do not work, the laser pickup unit won't move and no reading will take place and 'No Disc' display will be the result. The last chance is with Laser Pickup Unit itself. Just get this unit repaired by any well experienced service technician or by the authorised service center, because, there are special tools to open this unit. As it is a compactable one, more care should be given to it while repairing. Suspect the second motor I described earlier, and the Laser Pickup Unit. OK.

I put in a disk and it does not read the disk. The blue light goes out immediately after inserting then nothing

Sounds like the DVD drive inside of your Wii may have failed.

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Wii including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Wii going again!

Need pinout for USA SPEC SCD-A88 CD changer. The unit has a short (~6in) cable with a round 8-pin connector on the end. In particular I want to apply 12V and GND so I can eject the discs that are trapped...

Sorry to hear it I had same prob with vw88e tried to email usa spec and get pin out but no results.. had to get the screwdrivers.. DO THIS ON A CLEAR TABLE WITH GOOD LIGHT !!face pops off easy enough ya gotta have 3 hands to gently hold ones youve popped and work the others then 6 little screws 3 on each side.. CAREFUL not to drop the little sliders for mounting in car they have springs that pull them out of thier home and they **** to get back in remove the top.you should be looking at the top now and can see the cartridge..and a little bit of the cd that was last playing.
there's a large gear.. with a pin in a half moon with a little flat tail lookin slot. if the pin is in the little flat area, carefully spin the gear until its out of flat and around to top of moon. cd that was playing is now in cartridge.. on the bottom in the back is another little gear (Between the mechanical case and outer shell) carefully spin that gear until the disk selector is all the way down (if it goes up or doesn't move spin the other way) keep spinning until cartridge ejects if you want reassemble if you just wanted disks toss it as is if reassembling just go reverse face plate goes on last

CD changer eject button does not work. Three discs are inside. Changer works. Good sound is produced. But unable to eject disc changer to change discs.

Inspect the tray or door to see if there is a very small hole in it. If so, this is an 'emergency' ejection hole and a standard paper clip, unfolded, can be inserted there to manually eject the tray. This is a real common problem caused by the slippage of a clutch mechanism that is supposed to protect the tray mechanics from being damaged if the tray is somehow impeded during its travel.  It must be tougher than rocket science to properly design this feature -

DISK WILL NOT SPIN

The problem is in Slider mechanism, that can't switch on the Servo control circuit, that's stock up ,due to accumulated dust and dirt that's hardened the grease,it's need to clean and change the old grease. First thing you want to see if the unit’s laser is in good working order. This method isn’t foolproof, but most of the time works admirably. When you insert a disc, see if you can look up underneath where the disc sits on the turntable. Observe the laser lens going up and down. If the lens is trying to focus, that’s good! After a few seconds of the lens trying to focus, the platter should start to spin. On almost every CD/DVD unit I've encountered, the unit won't spin unless the laser has properly focused on the surface of the disc.
f the unit spins up and and then shuts down, you should check and make sure the laser pick-up assembly slider mechanism is working without any obstructions and that the small chrome rail that it slides on is slightly greased. Don’t go overboard with the grease though, as too much can cause all sorts of problems.
The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.
If the disc starts to spin slowly and doesn’t come up to speed, the spindle motor that’s attached to the turntable platter is a common problem. There could also be a problem with the spindle motor driver controller IC or the power supply regulator that supplies voltage to the driver IC. If the disc starts to spin and then spins really fast, or stops and starts to spin backwards, your problem is the laser pick-up assembly or the servo control circuit.
Also, in a DVD/CD player there are many complaints where the disc gets stuck inside of the unit. This could be as described earlier, but there’s also what’s called a drawer/disc tray opener and closer mechanism to contend with. On many models, old and new alike, there’s a small belt that goes bad and wont let the tray open. You can usually put your ear very close to the front of the unit and, if this is happening, hear the motor spinning when you press the eject button. Another cause is the nylon gears, which can get jammed up with dirt and dust. Also, in other cases, you could have a motor problem, or the driver IC could be at fault. If you suspect that the motor is at fault, simply measure the voltage on the tray motor while pressing on the eject button. If the voltage comes up between 6 to 12 volts, depending on the manufacturer, then the motor needs to be replaced
