Whirlpool WBM35MW I am an Australian Male and as long as the beer is cold i don't complain. For about a month now (or so) the fridge has been beeping constantly when the the door is open. At the same time the condensor oscilates on and off. The beer remained cold and hence, there was no problem. Unitil today, when it stopped being cold. It still beeps constanly but is now cooking my chicken instead of frezzing it! Can you help me! The fridge is about 2-3 years old!

Our fridge is one month off being 3 years old.  Same model.  Technician just advised that the compressor is drawing 6amps instead of 2amps.  This has seized the compressor so as it is out of warranty and to repair will cost $800+ I am forced to buy a new one.  Will not be buying a Whirlpool ever again!!!!!!  Nor will anyone I tell...

Looks like I have the same problem with my WBM35MW. Started a couple of weeks ago with buzzer (indicating door open) , sound of compressor trying to start and switch turning it off. Food now not being kept cold. Looks like I paid $600 for a three year throw away. Not good value.

Further to my previous post, contacted Whirlpool Melbourne who acknowledged problem described and advised that warranty for sealed unit including compressor was five years not three. Gave me local Sydney service agent who called and after looking at unit said it was one of thousands with the same problem. Motor was too small at manufacture and complete sealed unit including larger motor would have to be fitted. All at no cost!!. Unit away for two days and have been told that larger motor will ensure no repeat of problem.

All I needed was proof of purchase, and obtained this from retailer Retrovision without problem even though unit was purchased in Sept 2004.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

Just wanted to know what is a good temperature for the fridge, so drinks are not too cold? Many thanks

Hi , ideal temperature is probably between 35F (1.6c) and 38F(3.3c)
38 is the standard pub temp for beer .

hope this helps :)

Whirlpool Gladiator Freezerator not cold

Just had the same problem on my Freezerator, the compressor would cycle on for a few seconds and then off for about 5-10 minutes. No cooling. Replaced the overload sw and the start capacitor and system running cold and tru. Beer cold again, 0deg in freezer. Parts are available on the web, P/n 2169373 for the capacitor and 213615000 for the switch and housing...may be different # for the sw....PTM

My fridge is freezing my cans of beer even tho it is on low? It is a phillips 360L cycle defrost (fairly old)

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Here's a diagram with your damper parts. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=ET1FHTXMB00&productCategoryId=0166000&brandId=1198&modelName=TOP-MOUNT-REFRIGERATOR&diagramPageId=00003&componentDescription=LINER%20PARTS&documentId=W0404055&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list

Whirlpool Beverage Center (WBC127BLS) - Won't cool enough

If you're handy with a soldering iron, it's possible to 'trick' the fridge into cooling down a few more degrees.

Long version:
If you open the door to the fridge, on the right wall near the bottom is a small plastic grate. You should be able to pull this straight out from the side wall. There is a temperature sensor attached to the back of the grate. Unplug the sensor. (The fridge will then give you a very annoying error beep and display "EE" on the readout. Pushing the °F-°C button stopped the beeping.) This sensor will change resistance with temperature. (The lower the temperature, the higher the resistance) I was reading a resistance of about 3700 ohms at 43°F and 2460 ohms at 68°F. Throw in a rough assumption that the response is linear and it works out to almost 50ohms/degree. In order to 'trick' the fridge into cooling down more, you need to drop the resistance. I was aiming for about 6 degrees cooler. Assuming the resistance response was linear, 6 degrees cooler would give me about 4000 ohms from the sensor. By jumpering a 50000 ohm resistor (yes, 50K ohm) in parallel with the sensor, I should get about 6 degrees cooler. I did the soldering, plugged the sensor back in, and ended up about 8 degrees cooler. Two days so far, everything appears good and the beer is cold.

Short version:
Put a 50K ohm resistor in parallel with the temperature sensor behind the grate on the inside right hand wall.

The temperature read out will be inaccurate forever after though. But then, I just want cold beer, my wife wants cold water, and the kids want to play with the cool blue light. I don't care what the number on the readout is.

WBM35MW: Beeping

Try first unplugging the fridge for ten minutes, this will drain power from circuits and can solve some problem of this kind.

If it did not work you have an electronic problem, probably a wire making contact or a faulty control board.

You can buy replacements here.

Or call the number listed on your user manual if you need to call a repairman.

If you have reason to believe this is a problem...and I doubt it...you can get an ampere tester from a number of online sites. One vendor is harborfreight.com. They run at least 20 dollars. The meters double as household testers in some cases. Others are recording meters which monitor specific appliances plugged in semi-permanently.
