Question about ITT Night Quest 160 Monocular

Open Question

I have ITT Night Quest, problem getting any vision

I have ITT Night Quest, used regularly, now a problem. Press ON and nothing, frequently a red flash to left side of vision. If I hold switch in I can sometimes see a faint reaction and momentary return of night vision but fleeting. Batteries new, unit in good condition, well cared for but now dangerously ineffective. Can you help, I am in The Dominican Republic and do not know if I can get this unit professionally checked and repaired. please advise if possible.

I'm pretty sure that your unit uses the 3V cr123 Lithium battery. You can get it at RadioShack. You can always take it down to radioshack and pretty quick you will find the correct batt.for the unit. Do not use rechargeable batts!

SOURCE: i need a manual for

Great looking product - GEN3 - much better than the Night Owl stuff from 5 yrs ago.
Not sure if you can obtain a manual for a product that is restricted by ITAR regulations. I thought these were MIL use .
The only thing I can find is a SPEC link like :-- Operators Manual. CALL US TODAY AT: Toll Free 1-800-424-8222 http://www.morovision.com/pdf/2006/ITT_NQ5001.pdf
A reset is usually any method of disconnecting the power supply for at least 3-5 secs so the sensor can discharge into ground. Just removing the batteries should do this. -- Ray

I have an/pvs-7b night vision and need to replace my battery cap. The metal piece in side broke off???

Considering many vendors who sell parts are going to have a minimum order, Night Vision Depot for example has a 100 dollar minimum; you might consider trying to repair your old one or fabricating a new one. Otherwise checking on Ebay for one. On the other hand if you can fabricate a new one easily, you might consider being a vendor of that part too as you would not be the only person to encounter that dilema.

I have a ITT nightquest that is around 12 or 15 years old and stopped working, i replaced the batteries and when i press the power button all i get is a random red flash of light,,, any ideas of what is...

Jello, It a very nice night scope then and even to day, it American made. Those ITT 1st generation image intensifier tube have a life of about 10K hours+. If it had a few exposures to bright lights this will take a way from the life of the tube.

The only way to trouble shoot the problem is to take it parts. ITT will not provide any information on this Nightqest NV devise. You'll need someone the knows electronic in depth, troubleshoot solid state devise, and make HV ingitors for the tube in thousands of voltage. The problem could a simple passive component to the image intensifier tube has quit. Expensive to repair if the tube is bad. stewbison

PVS14 will not power up. You can see the IR light up, but the night vision itself will not come on.

Hello, it could just three thing wrong here; no battery power to oscillator and voltage multiplier or the image intensifier is bad. You can test the oscillator and voltage multiplier by powering it up with 3 volt battery and touch the output end with your finger. You'll get a little shock, but they is very little current, especially in the micr-amps region.

You'll need to send the tube to two distributor of ITT Litton image tubes, Morrison Optic Co, and the other ????? can remember. GB....stewibison

Not sure if this applies, but this is on the Morovision site: http://www.morovision.com/faqs.htm Because of the manufacturing processes, all night vision image tubes will have different cosmetics such as small spots or specs, photocathode coloring, or a chicken wire effect from the microchannel plate. Most cosmetics are only noticed during viewing in high light situations such as viewing with the daylight filter on in a lit room. Most cosmetic blemishes are not noticeable during normal nighttime operation but may still be seen to some degree in certain situations. These cosmetics in no way effect the performance of the image tube and do not decrease the ability to perform nighttime tasks.
