If it will not read anything then something is wrong with your disk drive, you can pay to have this repaired or do it yourself, disk drive replacements can be easily found on eBay for not very much, however i would recommend cleaning the disks you are trying to play in case the problem is a simple case of a bad disc. Hope this helped.
Someone needs to open it to SEE what is happening--if the unit holds more than one disc (model seems to indicate that) you likely have a mechanism problem with something jammed or even broken--mechanism could also be out of alignment which is a task for a pro.
Look and see what is happening is first thing needed here.
The problem is more than likely a bad hard drive, remove hardware and reseat it back in place, sometimes restarts, if nothing! the hard drive needs to be assessed for replacement.

Yes, it's compatible with the motherboard, no, it's not compatible with the XP install disk because it doesn't have SATA support. And since Asus doesn't provides it special driver needed (one that must be put on a floppy) it means that you simply cannot install XP on this disk.
All you can do is to obtain another PATA hdd what ever its size and install XP in it. Then put the new SATA disk in and use it to store all the installed programs and all your files on it. As a bonus you won't lose them if the new PATA disk fails or XP gets corrupted. Or install Vista or 7 instead of XP, the have support for SATA disks
Try cleaning the disk, if that doesn't work, try another disk, if that doesn't work, then turn the xbox off, take the hard drive out, put it back in, then try playing the game again.
This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem, the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.
If all games are like this then you might have a faulty system if it's only a few or one then it might be the disk. If it's not the disk then I don't know
