The 1/x is the same as the x^-1 button which is right above the x-square button.

If you are truly talking about the the TI89 calculator there is no command to set Diagnostics ON. This is a command for the TI 83/84 Plus. In the TI 89, the correlation coefficient is displayed by default in the statistical result screen.
In the Ti83/84 open the catalog: Press [2nd][0] (CATALOG).
Press D, then scroll from there until the line DiagnosticOn. Select the line and press ENTER.

Put the data into a list using whatever scheme you prefer. Press STAT right-arrow to bring up the STAT CALC menu. Select "1-Var Stats" and specify the list containing the data. Im getting an err: invalid dim on my TI-84 Plus calculator...what do I do?

If the message appears when you try to graph functions deactivate the statistical plots. To do so:

Press [2nd][Y=] to access (STAT PLOTs)
Select [4:PlotsOff] then [ENTER]

That should solve your problem. Post a comment to this thread if you still have trouble graphing.

If the message appears in another context, it sure would help knowing the context of the error.

Getting more than 10 equations into y=

The TI 83, 84 seris can not store more than 10 equations. the TI 86 and above can have infinate, but not the 83, 84s. If you have catalog help in your apps, you can run that, and it will be able to tell you all the syntax of every function it has.
