Pullcord on my Craftsman 6.0 lawnmower does not pull, seems to get stuck before engine turns over. Took top cover off to see if there was an obstruction, did not see one. Is this something I can attempt to fix?

It's likely the rope came off the pulley and is lodged in behind it. They usually can be fixed by bending back some tabs or taking out a bolt to let the pulley come out a LITTLE. Be carefull because the rewind spring behind it will unlatch if you pull too far. It's not that strong but it will whip around and it has a sharp end

Will it not start OR is the engine frozen. help us with your description
Take the Spark Plug out and see if that helps it turn over. Maybe the float in the Carburetor is stuck open and the cylinder filled with gas Causing Hydrolock.

Craftsman lt1000 stuck in neutral

The rear wheels are keyed to the axle shafts with a sqaure key, if the last owner forgot to replace one of the keys the axle will just turn in the centre of the wheel and not turn it, because the gearbox has a diff it means neither wheel will turn if either side has the square key missing, pull the wheels off and check the key is there.

I am trying to find out how to replace the mower belt of my 2006 LT2000 23hp Craftsman lawnmower

Replacing the belt is easiest if you drop the deck. There are roughly 6 pins you must pull (refer to sticker on deck) including the engagement cable. Pull the deck from under the tractor and remove the plastic pulley shield from the left side. Remove the belt and replace the same as you took off and re-attach the deck to the mower.

sounds like you have dirt in the recoil clutch, (under the screen) or you bent something there. try removing the clutch and make sure shaft is very clean and lightly coated with oil. This would be for a briggs and stratton engine.

Pullcord violently retracting on Craftsman lawnmower

It is possible that the 'dogs' that engage the crankhaft were stuck in the out (engaged position). Once the engine started, it wound the rope in the opposite direction until the dogs slipped and retracted. Romve the top cover that includes the pull start unit. Check for smooth and sticky free operation while pulling on the cord. Try using a very light oil to lube if nessesary.

Pull cord stuck

it sounds like the recoil spring in the "housing" is jammed( or something is broken) youll have to take this apart without breaking it. you may have internal engine damage if it was unusually hot and the pullcord jammed. try using a richer oil mixture for fuel also if you fix the pullcord. hope this helps, keep me posted.
