Just got new power supply for Toshiba A45-1202 and it will not start. This machine has been sitting stored for a year. Could it be that the battery is bad and it will not start without a good battery? Thanks Tsofa

Replace a good battery to test if the battery is bad, and store the battery correctly.

Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty. If not,
Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not,
Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

My bikehas power but battery wont start bike

What's the make, model and year?

It may be as simple as a low charge on the battery. If it has been sitting a while then the battery may have enough juice to power the lights and instruments, but it may not supply enough power to the starter which requires a lot of amperage. Most parts stores will test your battery for free.
I had a Yamaha Vstar Classic which has a starter clutch issue where the starter becomes jammed and requires pretty serious surgery to repair.

Toshiba satellite l305d-s5934 Won't charge battery dont power On

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Power supply problems

Hello,

the problem is from the motherboard. One problem with toshiba laptop, is that they overheat too much.

Check if the fan of your laptop is working and make sure you keep your laptop where there is ventilation, so that air can enter into the laptop.

You could also open up the laptop, clean every dust on the motherboard and also the fan and cooler.

That's the area you should concentrate your attention on and not the battery or AC adapter.

Take care.

Laptop will not power up, ac adapter issue, battery, or someting else?

You can try taking your battery off the laptop and just have the power supply hooked up. If it will start up like that, your battery or the charging portion of your motherboard is probably bad and you should have a technician look at it. If it doesn't start, your power supply is more than likely bad and you can order a new one from eBay. Also check to see if there are any lights on the computer or power supply. If the laptop has lights on it is almost definitely a laptop issue, if nothing is on (including the light, if there is one, on the adapter) then it's probably a adapter problem and your battery is dead. You could try getting a new one on eBay or a universal adapter in a store. That way if the adapter turns out to be ok you can return the universal adapter.

Suddenly my Toshiba Satellite A205 laptop died. No power.

First, check your power supply (the adapter). Is it putting out the required voltage to charge the battery?
If not, then you might have a dead battery and no way to charge it.
If the power supply is working and when you turn on the computer you get no lights, then you're probably looking at a new motherboard.
If you get startup lights and hear the fan, then it's getting power and you might have a video problem. But it sounds like, from what you wrote, there is no activity at all when you try to start it. That would be the power circuit on the motherboard, most likely.

For laptop: Toshiba Satellite A105: My battery won't charge/computer won't turn on when plugged in. No lights show when plugged in. Don't know if it's a problem with the chord or the computer. Don't want...

Start by trying another power outlet.

The power adapter should have its own light. If it doesn't light up then the adaper is bad. Kensington.com sells very inexpensive universal power adapters. You might also find a good deal on eBay.

If the adapter lights up then it may be your battery. Notebook batteries are only good for 2-3 years. If you let them sit for a long time without a charge they may only last 1-2 years.

Vote for this solution if it helps.

Toshiba satellite a105 blank screen, blinking battery light

well to me either there is a issue with the power supply or the power cord. I have had a bunch of laptops where the power cords have to be a certain way or nothing will respond. this could be and since it is thinking that it is running in battery mode then it drains and then causes the laptop to turn off or go into hibernation due to the fact that the setting you set for the battery where probably on the "when plugged in" not the running off the battery mode.

it leads me to think that its the power supply because its the most common issue with this but I think that the best solution would be to either find someone that can test the power supply and find the break in the line or buy a new one to test ushally if you buy one from a store bigger named store outfit and use the power supply to test you can ushally get your money back or goto a local computer shop and get them to match up the power supply or see if they have a adaptor loose that can be used for testing.

These could be possible solutions but like I said I am almost 100% sure that its the power supply and not the laptop because even if the battery is not in the laptop the unit should still power up. on most laptops that is.

So that might be another thing that you would like to check but I highly doubt that it is that. because even a dead battery will allow the power adaptor to run on the laptop even if it dosent charge.

hope this helps and hope it works for you. let me know how you make out and if this made any sort of sence to you haha

Power up problem

it has nothing to do with the ram, it is the issue of the adapter or battery for toshiba laptop, if the output volatge form the adapter is not steady, the light will get yellow and blink, try it on another toshiba laptop. if it is normal, u should test the toshiba laptop battery by the multimeter, connect the electroprobes wiht the anode and cathode, if the pointer does not fixed in a short time ,the battery is the issue. change it for a new one.
