Installed 8400gs computer wont boot and orange light appears

Hi, I installed a 8400gs but the processor fan goes into overdrive and the orange light appears, and it won't boot.

DELL 8400 MAKES A LOUD FAN NOISE AND WONT BOOT

There are 2 basic fans in Dell tower one for the power supply and the other for the Processor. If your computer is not booting then the Processor fan is most likely to be the culprit. What could be happening is that the Processor fan is no longer turning fast enough to cool the processor, so normal the processor when it over heats there is either protection to switch off the computer automatically or the computer won't boot. The best thing is to change the fan and make sure it is working properly but checking on the cables that they won't entangle on top of the fan to impede it's movement. You can easily damage your processor if the fan is not working properly.

Hi when I try to install vtx radeon hd 5450 graphics card no display is shown on monitor and all fans run fast computer appears to be booting but can't tell. compaq sr1519uk with MSI MS-7184 mbo,...

Hi Dave,

1. Have you ever tried testing your VTX HD5450 GPU to another system or try bringing it to the store where you purchased it.
2. After removing the VTX HD5450 GPU, did your Nvidia 8400GS worked? - If it works there might be a compatibility issue between your MOBO and HD5450 GPU if the card is good.
3. I think there is nothing to configure on your bios regarding Graphics setting because your Nvidia 8400GS worked without any problems.
4. Did you check the VGA/ DVI cable and power cable if it is plugged to the proper ports. There are times that even tough we are that good we miss something.

Hopefully this information helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Display Problem with Intel 845GVSR MB : My computer running on Intel 845GVSR MB with 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor and 768 MB RAM and 80 GB HDD . When I start the computer nothing appears on...

Reset the CMOS setup after putting the battery. You have 768MB RAM. So check with the alternate memory module with different slots. If not helpful, check the RAM with another PC. Lastly get the BIOS updated or motherboard repaired from component level motherboard repairer. You may have damaged the motherboard by putting undue pressure while plugging the connectors.

My desktop has an orange light no beep sounds when starting it won't boot up the back where ethernet plug goes is orange too the fan makes a burning smell also

Orange light usually means the harddrive or computer is processing and loading, But it can also mean that there is a problem with the hard drive. Start your computer and wait. If you see orange light it means its working to boot up, it might take a while, you might see your screen black for a while but eventually will work.

To fix this problem you need to upgrade more hard drive space, RAM memory and processor speed

Nowadays a computer should have a minimum of 2GB of RAM memory, at least 120GB of Space, and about 2.0Ghz of processing speed.

You can also buy great refurbished computers which are cheaper. Most of them come with 4GB of RAM memory, 250GB HD Space and 2.5Ghz processing speed.

It is best to disable the onboard video electrically via a jumper or dip switch on your computers motherboard or in its system BIOS. Please refer to your computers user guide or contact your computer manufacturer for instruction on this process.
In the event that your system does not support the above, you may be able to disable the onboard video card in the operating system using the instructions below.
Make sure that the new PCI video card is not installed in your computer.
Windows XP/2000
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
3. Click View, and then Show Hidden Devices.
4. Click the Plus (+) sign next to the Display Adapters category to expand it.
5. Select the onboard graphics controller under Display Adapters and click Disable. Click OK to confirm.
6. Do not restart the computer until the controller is disabled.
7. Turn the computer off.
8. Install your PCI GeForce card and follow the included instructions from the card manufacturer.
