Well that would depend on what kind of car it is. Engine timing is computer controlled with oil pressure. Low oil, dirty oil, sluggie oil will cause it. Oil and crankcase need to be cleaned. Seafoam is great at that. Regular oil changes with good oil help ALOT. If it's a turbo then full synthetic is needed cause other oil can't handle the heat. Depending on how bad it's sluged will dictate the repair. More info about year make and model would get you a better answer

Means the camshaft position sensor has moved or covered in muck and oil or come loose or it is broken.

2007 Saturn Aura XR 3.6 code p00116. new timing chains and all parts...128,000 miles any ideas besides the crankshaft reluctor.. Car runs great idols smooth

you got a bit carried away with the code
code p 0016 refers to crank shaft position/cam shaft position sensor, bank 1 sensor A---correlation === causes --wiring---CKP sensor --CMP sensor ---mechanical fault
code p 0011 refers to cam shaft (CMP) intake /left /front bank 1 --timing over advanced / system performance==== causes ---valve timing---engine mechanical fault --- CMP actuator ---wiring
you didn't mention the fault so consider this
if the timing is out on the intake cam shaft , it will idle good but play up as the timing actuator moves it further advanced with rpm
if the actuator is not wire properly or the solenoid is faulty , then the inlet will lag with increased rpm and again cause you problems
It is doubtful if the position sensors for either the crank or cam shafts are a problem because it starts and idles good

I just replaced timing chains on my 5.4 24v engine now after about 30 mins of driving the engine struggles to run as if not running on all cyl at hwy speed ok but in stop start traffic not good

check the valve timing as it indicates a timing problem.
the higher rpm at highway speed indicates that the valve timing is coming correct as the rpm advances the timing in the solenoid actuation but at idle it is out a bit
could be one cam off a tooth
run the fault codes to see if the cam shaft advance operation is working ( wiring , cam shaft position sensor , actuator etc )
check the fuel pressure and injector operations as they may be failing at the lower pulse action

Vauxhall insignia 2.0 petrol turbo engine management light started coming on and fault reads p000b what do I change ( engine doesn't miss a beat when light comes on)

code p 000B refers to cam shaft position (CMP) actuator , exhaust/right/rear bank 1---slow response ===causes wiring---CMP actuator--ECM
this is the unit that advances the valve timing at higher rpms and will not affect the engine performance noticeably under normal engine rpms
you may see it as increased fuel consumption
However that said it is advisable to take it to an accredited service center that has experience on your make of vehicle and have the matter investigated and fixed

Where is cam shaft sensor located on a 08 saturn aura

Which engine ? This vehicle had option of six different engines , 2.4 , 3.5 , 2.8 , 3.0 , 3.2 , 3.6 And are you picking on the right part ? What code > DTC P0010: Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit

DTC P0013: Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit
It may not even be a cam sensor problem !
DTC P0340: Intake CMP Sensor Circuit

DTC P0365: Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit
DTC P0341: Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance

DTC P0366: Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance
Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator System
The camshaft position (CMP) actuator system is an electro-hydraulic operated device used for a variety of engine performance and operational enhancements. These enhancements include lower emission output through exhaust gas dilution of the intake charge in the combustion chamber, a broader engine torque range, and improved fuel economy. The CMP actuator system accomplishes this by changing the angle or timing of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft position. The CMP actuator simply allows earlier or later intake and exhaust valve opening during the four stroke engine cycle. The CMP actuator cannot vary the duration of valve opening, or the valve lift.
During engine OFF, engine idling conditions, and engine shutdown, the camshaft actuator is held in the Park position. Internal to the CMP actuator assembly is a return spring and a locking pin. During non-phasing modes of the camshaft, the return spring rotates the camshaft back to the Park position, and the locking pin retains the CMP actuator sprocket to the camshaft

I replaced my accelerator pedal position sensor on my 03 trailblazer because reduced engine light came on and when gas pedal pressed it did nothing. with new sensor it still does nothing, what do I do

The most common problem on your trailblazer if it has a 4.2 liter engine is the cam shaft actuator gets stuck due to a clogged screen. If the reduced engine power light is on then the check engine light should also be on. You need to check for fault codes to see what step you need to do first.

P0011

code p0011 refers to camshaft position(CMP) intake/left/front, bank-timing over advanced/system performance causes ---valve timing---engine mechanical fault--CMP actuator--- wiring I would be taking it to a dealer service department as if it is the cam actuator it will be part of the cam shaft and will require specialist knowledge for repair or replacement.. Also it may be covered by a recall notice or covered by warranty.

I have a 2009 GMC Canyon 43,000 miles. Check engine light came on 2 weeks ago.

The cam solenoid may be bad/worn out or the screen is blocked causing this code . States vary on emissions.

The engine light means you have a code stored that can be read.
A place like Autozone will read it for free.
Only with the code can we tell if it is serious or minor.

CK Engine Light came on, (2006 Dodge Sprinter - 2500), mechanic found P2088 and replaced sensor. Ran check again found P 2032-02 sensor plausibility. They say oil contaminated in air charge tubes. The CK...

P2088 Dodge ,That is a cam position actuator, Not a cam sensor, Cam actuator control the cam angle, If this is ****** or advanced you'll definetly get CK ENG LT 2032, 2032 is reporting the engine condition and CK engine light is on due to a logic check, The function check has been suspended and the ECM is reporting the logic which is the condition of the vehicle, The first code was correct, P2088 that is a function failure. If there is acces to a freeze frame it will show at what MPH the vehicle was going if it is less than 40mph you can be sure the cam actuator is not advancing. Leave 2032 alone trouble shoot P2088 that is the source
