Wild guess: Maybe it's making contact with some metalized paper or aluminium foil?

its common to all ovens! causes are food spills and oil spills left uncleaned! painting only might fix the problem for a while, but it won't give you a lasting service!!

! you should buy a new rack for much safer use!

keep in mind also to clean the oven after every use! (let it cool first of course!)

Pry off plastic tab. Clean up burn marks with sand paper and touchup paint. Order a new rack clip. Also clean any burn residue off rack.
MOST IMPORTANT: After the repair, do not put the rack back in unless you are cooking on it. Running the microwave with nothing on the rack is what causes this to happen.

Hello, and first of all thank you for choosing FIXYA today for your technical support needs.

I'm Joe and I will be pleased to assist you with your request.

If you could please provide the exact model number of the unit, then I can certainly help you track down the correct USER"S MANUAL for that device including the complete OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS for it.

Just comment back to this page with that information by using the small blue ADD A COMMENT button at the top of this solution page.

Please do NOT use the ASK A QUESTION buttons which are primarily for asking a brand new question and starting entirely new discussions.

You can usually find the model number for the device printed on a sticker inside the microwave door frame. You should be able to see it if you open the door and look around the edges.

If not, then the model number will also certainly be printed on a sticker on the very back panel of the microwave, as long as that area is safely accessible for you.

Thank you very much.

I am standing by here to assist you as soon as I get that additional information from you.

Take care.

Joe.

How to remove the rack holder from a GE JMV1340WW002 microwave.

Hi best way is to remove the outer case and cut the back of the clip off, alternativly you can just lift the old clip from inside the oven cooking cavity with a flat knife or spreader untill the plastic clip on the rearside breaks off, it'l just fall down and sit in a void in the bottom of the oven and wont cause any damage. The new clip is just installed using an upward motion whilst pushing inward untill it clicks into place.
Hope this helps

Burnt hole in microwave

Is the hole actually bigger than it originally was or is it just empty because the rack support got burned up & discarded?

The rack supports / rack holders can be ordered. The part number is WB06X10140 (or WB6X10140) and they're less than $5.00 each. You can find them in stock here.

If you install a new rack support in the hole, then any gap or hole around it can allow grease to accumulate, and that can lead to arcing. But you can seal it safely & easily.

Once the support is installed and everything is squeaky clean and dry, you can apply a small amount of silicone caulk into the gap or hole.

Let it dry it overnight with the door open, then use a razor blade or X-acto knife to gently trim away any excess caulk.

That would be a really good fix.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
