Can baking soda be used to remove mould and smell from a washing machine

Not really as you cannot get to the troublesome areas for it to work. I would suggest you do several very hot washes of your whites only over a period of time the smell will eventually go away. Its bacteria build up from cold or warm washes causing the problem.

The clothes r not washed properly n r dirty and also smells at times

It could be mould gathering in the machine, particularly in the dispenser and round the crevices of the door rubber. You are supposed to put machines through a service wash periodically to stop it building up. It can be worse if you do low temperature washes and use a non biological product because neither will kill the bugs that create mould.

When i wash clothes in my LG front loader it sometimes smell like rooten eggs, and my clothes never smell good no matter what detergent or softner i use...help

hi, it sounds like it has had standing water in it and this has caused mould to build up inside the machine the best thing for you to do is get some old towels and put them on the hottest wash setting not quick wash bot hot was use powder or liquid and put 3 or 4 table spoons of salt inside with the towels doing this softens up the mould and should solve your problem.

after doing that wash cycle check and see if the towels come out smelling good or not,

if they do you need to remember that their is always a small amount of standing water sitting inside the machine at all times so if it is not going to be used for a few days then the best thing to do is to leave the door slightly open doing this will prevent the build up of mould due to their being air circulating.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
good luck and you should have no problems after doing the above

its a comon fault,,,i would put in a strong vinegar into the drawer and do a rince with nothing in the washer first this will kill off any mould after that do a fuw rinses and then leave the door open after you use the washer to stop any more mould growing in it this also works on wood and walls too!

Hotpoint Washing Machine smells mouldy as has mould

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.
Pl give me a good rating for the free help, thanks.

Rubber door seal mouldy

Wouldn't normallyexpect a few mould spots to leave that bad a smell, so likely you've got two distinct issues.

Starting with the water trapped in the seal: Open the door and very carefully slip your fingers into the seal where the water is gathering (to stop your hand getting trapped between the drum and the outer casing, put your other hand inside the drum and push it up out of the way - just be careful not to let it spring back too fast).

At the very lowest point,of the space inside the seal, either at the very front or the very back (so tucked into the corner between the floor of the seal and it's front or back wall), you'll find a little drainage slot. Once you've cleared the inevitable blockage from this slot, your seal problems should vanish.

If the foul smell is coming from inside the machine, the problem is likely to be grey sludge inside the works of the machine. This is usually caused by modern detergents not being quite as good at working at 30 degrees as they claim to be. The answer is to run a cycle every now and then with no laundry, detergent, or conditioner in the machine, on the longest, hottest programme the machine will support. This should be sufficient to dissolve the rotting sludge and pump it away down the drain.
