I suspect viral activity. Malware does these type of things. You will need to perform isolation techniques in order to prevent the erroneous apps from running. When in doubt utilize task manager to shut down the pc if it is non-responsive (CTRL-ALT-DEL) gives you the menu. When in extreme doubt, RELOAD OS. Save your extreme data first, of course. I like Webroot software.

Reboot your computer ... the universal fix for hangs and lock-ups. Do the three finger wave if possible. If not possible, turn the computer off.

OK! Lets troubleshoot this together.

First thing we want to do is verify that your keyboard & mouse and plugged into the correct places and are powered up and able to work.

Turn your computer on and look at your keyboard and tell me if any lights are on to show that it has power and is operational.

Watch the keyboard lights until the computer gets to the login page and tell me if the lights come on and stay on? Or do the lights turn on for a moment and then turn off again?

If you do not see any lights, please clarify if there are NO LIGHTS on your style of keyboard or if there are lights but they are not lighting up.

If your keyboard has lights and they are not lighting up at all, then turn off the computer and unplug the mouse and keyboard and swap them around. Then turn the computer on again and tell me if the lights come on and the mouse and keyboard become operational.

Once we verify this we can continue to the next step of troubleshooting. Please report what you find and I will help you solve this.

I HAD REFORMATED MY LAPTOP. NOW IT'S NOT SHUTDOWN PROPERLY

After you attach a keyboard, a mouse or another USB-based input device to your computer, your computer may no longer shut down correctly. For example, your computer may stop responding (hang) after you click Turn off or Restart.
To work around this issue, disable power management of the USB hub.

To disable power management on the USB hub:
  1. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  2. Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand it, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Power Management tab.
  4. Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.

Turn off the Fn

Fn is shorthand for nothing however from what I have searched there doesnt appear to be a method to turn it off at present.

I would like you to try going into the control panel and choosing a normal Keyboard Layout if possible and seeing if that helps.

if not you may just have to hang in there a bit longer.

P.S.: What freetek is referring to is the Funtion Keys not the Fn key. The Fn key is only on notebooks mainly and found on certain keyboards. Like my USB Keyboard.

Keyboard

Maybe your PC hanged, when this happens you can not control anymore the display on your computer. When it stops hanging it will return to its normal operation. You can use your keyboard as long as it doesn't hang. This will happen over and over if your there is a mismatch on your computer parts. i believe it is an ongoing problem.

P.S. please don't forget to rate.
