It's faulty capacitors in one of the control modules; the rear if you don't have an ice maker. And I'd put money on it. :) jb

Is the freezer getting cold and the fridge not? If so, it's a faulty defrost circuit and the cold air from the freezer is not being passed into the fridge. If the Freezer is not cold, it's a control issue. Hope this helps jb :)

Fridge not getting cold, making clicking sound - Whirlpool EDSFTG

remove the rtc overload off the compressor and shake it,if it rattles thats your culprit, also if when its running and the compressor is quite warm to the touch, its only running on the start windings and isnt actually running right and will overheat and ruin the compressor, replace the rtc its cheaper than a new compressor

My refrig is not getting cold. I hear a clicking

You have a bad overload / relay , which is plugged onto the side of the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires going to it . The part number is 2220477 , and is easily replaceable .

Have a whirlpool side by side refriferator estate model. Freezer won't get cold. Cleaned off underneath, fan is turning, Unplugged for awhile and plugged back in. Keep hearing clicking noise coming from...

Plastic box you're referring to contains the start components for the compressor. The clicking sound sound you hear is the protective overload shutting the compressor off because it won't start.
Two possibilities
1. The components inside the plastic box (cover) are defective and need replaced. You can remove them, by snapping off the cover and pulling them straight off. Most appliance parts houses will be happy to test them.
2. The compressor has failed internally.
Note: In my personal experience when dealing with whirlpool Estate models, 99% of the time it has been a failed compressor.

The ref makes a noise and the one side is cold

Sounds like you have a bad overload/relay on the compressor . This piece plugs onto the side of the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires going to it . You will have to pull out the refrig , and remove the rear panel . Take your model number with you , when you go to get the part . If you had listed it here , could have given you a part number .

Within a few hours , your freezer will start defrosting , if not already . You may want to find an alternative cooling source , until you get the part(s) . Being sunday , parts houses may not be open .

Refrigerator does not get cold - both freezer and refrigerator section. I noted a clicking sound around the compressor area - turning on and off.

unplug and move refrigerator 1 foot from the wall. Wait 15 mins , plug again. If it works don't push refrigerator to the wall again let it stay at 1 foot from the wall. If it doesn't, call the technician who will test for you realay and compressor.
