Try using a usb keyboard...if it doesnt work you always try a system restore...providing its a software issue....then there is resetting your keyboard and finally replacing it

Cursor disappeared

Here are two things I would try, not knowing your version of Windows:

1. Open Device Manager, double-click each "USB Root Hub, and under the "Power Management" tab, deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
2. In Control Panel, (depending on your version of Windows) either:
A. Open Display Properties, Settings tab, Settings button, Troubleshoot, lower the mouse acceleration to see if that prevents the pointer from disappearing. This is from memory.. I don't have an XP machine running right now.
B. Open the Mouse applet, under "Pointer Options", select "Show the location of the pointer when I press the CTRL key". If there's a way to lower graphics hardware acceleration in Window 7, I can't find it.

Go to you device manager (right click bottom left corner --> taskmanager)

Disable the device (right click the device --> disable)

Just out of my curiosity, why do you want this?

Why is it theres no display on my monitor? i can only see the arrow cursor

It sounds like you are having a problem with either your operating system, or your hard drive may be failing. Do a hard restart of your system by holding the power button down until the machine starts, then turn it back on. See if this fixes the problem. If not, you will have to bring the computer into a repair center.

While typing the cursor disappears then reappears after 5 seconds (as it did when typing this request for help!) Very annoying especially when typing passwords.

There is a setting in Mouse Properties that lets you modify this setting. Right-click an empty spot on your desktop, Personalize, Mouse Pointers, Pointer Options, unclick "Hide pointer while typing"

Missing Cursor on Firefox

Hi there Lauren,

I think I've got you covered on this one.
I'd like to offer up a two solutions.
One may be the solution to the disappearing cursor.
Failing that, the other addresses the symptoms, instead of the problem, sort of a sideways solution. Hopefully the result will be satisfactory.
  • Click Start
  • Click Control Panel
  • Double-Click Mouse
  • Click on the Pointer Options Tab
  • In the Visibility Box, is the 'Hide cursor while typing' option checked?
  • If so, uncheck it.
  • If not, below it is an option to 'Show location of cursor when I press Control Key'. Check it.
  • Click Apply. Click OK
If the first option doesn't fix the mystery, the second will show the location of the cursor when you press the Control Key. One or the other will make that cursor show itself.
