Hi,
The problem is with the floppy disk. It has irrepairable damage. I suggest you back up your pictures and documents to a Cd as this is much cheaper and more reliable than a floppy disk.
Best wishes,

I have lost my floppy drive driver UF0002, I like to have that back so I can use my external floppy drive

You should not have to have a floppy disk driver as the machine (IBM format) recognizes the floppy drive upon boot up. Go into your BIOS setup and be sure that the floppy drive is turned on. It is always recognized as Drive A: or Drive B: Those two designations is reserved for floppy drives in the Basic Input Output System, reguardless if your machine came with an attached FloppyDrive.

Hi,

How are the floppy discs formatted?

Mar 12, 2008 | Audio Players & Recorders

You need to format the disk in drive G before using it. Then when I click ok it says cannot be formatted.

Hello,
the internal floppy drive is ALWAYS drive A: ...so be very careful you're not trying to format something (drive G:?) you shouldn't be. Perhaps your drive G: is a dvd or cd drive...or more likely a usb drive. Formatting the wrong drive is a bit catastrophic in terms of data loss.
Hope this helps.

I am now unable to access a floppy disk that I had been able to access for years. I now get an error message that tells me the disk has no ID address mark. How do I fix this?

Try changing the stting switch on the disk. I think it is for formatting or something like that. Try moving it to the opposite direction and then put it in your computer again ;) Good Luck

Flobby ALWAYS says it needs to be formatted

This problem usually indicates you have failing hardware, (floppy drive, interface, or cable). It will need to be replaced or serviced by a knowledgeable technician.

Troubleshoot the problem:
Check the cable connections and carefully re-seat each plug at the drive, and at the motherboard. Otherwise, try a simple swap-out of the floppy drive itself if you have another one available. Make sure the system is turned off and has no power applied before touching anything inside the computer.

Asking to format

If this is a new floppy then its advisable to format it.

But if it has been formated before and the message still comes on then ignore it.

Also if you're denied access (Copy or Read) to the floppy then please reinstall the drivers and the floppy drive again using the installation manual

NOT FORMATTED

The error means 3 things:

1. Files format of the files saved on the Floppy disk is not readable on the OS or does not comply with the file format of the OS. So you really need to format it.

2. The floppy disk is brand new and you need to format it first.

3. The floppy disk is not working. Try a known working floppy disk.
