Question about Gateway T-1625 Notebook

Not allowing me to log in anymore

I have a Toshiba P300-20H, it worked fine at the start but now when i switch it on it seems like its loading properly and right before the log-in screen 'please wait' comes up and it doesnt change. Ive looked on so many sites but i cant find any information to help. thanks x

I hv read your problem and it is a very common problem.
The 'sys' file of your operating system is corrupted or deleted.
This file contains imformation of user personal settings and registry settings.
To solve this problem you have to repair your operating system.
to do this put the bootable OS disk in the CD drive and select repair option.Do not Format just repair.This will do.

So i go to turn my toshiba laptop on and it loads until it gets to the please wait screen then it just stops and freezes. Please help me.


Hi, I see that the laptop is not working anymore. You can try removing the battery and also removing it from the adapter. then pressing the the power button for at least 10 secs. Then try to log on again. If you cannot still log on to the computer. You can try to go to safe mode with networking. When you press the power button, you need to tap the F8 key immediately at least 5-10 time until you Advance Boot Options. You can now choose safemode with networking. If you are able to log on. IF you are able to log on, click on start > then go to program files > then go to accessories > then choose System Restore. On system restore, choose the date when the computer is working and it will reload the computer back. you should be able to log on again normally If still you cannot log on safemode. you can now try the option Last known good configuration. it will load the previous settings when the computer logged on. If that still didn't work. You might need to reload the OS again. and you need to get the Operating system.

Is the power adapter putting out ~18 volts?
If so, the DC-in jack on the motherboard could be bad, but you say you checked that.. It can be replaced if you're good with a soldering iron.
Otherwise, I'd say you're looking at a replacement motherboard.

Its posable that the antenna is worn out. Just buy a wifi card and insert it in the slot, they work better anyway!!!

What I would suggest is logging on in safe mode and trying to restore it to an earlier date using system restore. likely the profile is corrupted. By doing a restore back about 4 to 7 days , or before this started happening, will likely fix your issue. If not you will have to purchase the restore cd from toshiba or restoring it from a recovery partition if it has one.

Look in Start - Connect to - Show all connections - If you have an Internet Gateway and the Internet connection shows disconnected - Double click the line and it will connect.

Now if I could only work out why it doesn't do this automatically ....

Also Use Internet Explorer to connect to http://192.168.1.1/ which should allow you to log into the router directly and set the log on details and logon password.
