Display setting out of focus

when picture is getting smaller in size or goes away or moves towards one side then hit your TV lightly on left side or right side or on top & then observe ..........you will get normal picture or it comes & again it goes....if it is happening like that then following is the situation..........after 4 or 5 yrs in some TVs on main board (also on circuit board that is fixed to CRT TUBE ) at some soldering joints crack develops....then due to loose contact picture becomes small in size or disappears ...........when we hit that lightly then those loose contacts joins temporarly & again picture appears for some time............so solution is ......TV main board should be observed carefully & most of the joints should be re-soldered.......only a good service engineer can do that........even after hitting TV lightly if there is no response then main board has to be checked completely........in your case iam sure it is loose connection problem.........joints should be re - soldered ...100% it works again................this problem cannot be solved by user unless user has idea about components( resisitors, transisitors, diodes,...etc) , have soldering iron , multimeter & other tools....................so contact good TV service engineer

Monitor display is fuzzy and pixelated

Hi.

Focus voltage on the CRT is usually in the range of 2-8 kV DC and should be controllable over a fairly wide range by the focus pot - usually located on the flyback or a little panel in its vicinity:

If adjusting the pot results in a position of acceptable focus, you may be done. It is not unusual for the focus setting to drift a over time.

If the setting is already as good as possible but not really good enough, the CRT may be tired. Alternatively, the filament voltage may be too low. Check for bad connections in the filament circuit.

If the optimal setting is out of range of the focus pot, the problem is likely leakage in the focus divider in the flyback or one of the components on the CRT neck board.

Also see the sections: "Focus adjustment" and "Focus drifts with warmup".

The focus wire usually comes from the flyback or if the general area or from a terminal on a voltage multiplier module in some cases. It is usually a wire by itself going to the little board on the neck of the CRT.

If a sparkgap (a little 2 terminal device with a 1/8" gap in the middle) is arcing with power on, then the resistive divider has shorted inside the flyback, focus board, or HV multiplier - whatever you TV has - and the this unit will need to be replaced. Ditto if the SCREEN control affects focus and/or vice-versa.

Using a suitable high voltage meter (range at least 10 kVDC, 1000 M ohm or greater input impedance), you should be able to measure it connected and disconnected. The ground return will be the outside coating of the CRT which may or may not be the same as the metal chassis parts. If the voltage is very low (less than 2 kV) or too high and the pot has little effect:

When measured right off of the source disconnected from the CRT neck board, then the problem is probably in the focus network in the flyback (or wherever it originates). Sometimes these can be disassembled and cleaned or repaired but usually requires replacement of the entire flyback or voltage multiplier. Note: you may need to add a HV (10 kV) capacitor between the focus wire and DAG ground to provide filtering so you get a DC level for your meter.

When measured with the focus wire attached to the CRT neck board with the CRT connected but reasonable with the CRT unplugged, there is probably a short between the focus and another electrode inside the CRT. See the section: Rescuing a shorted CRT.

When measured with the focus wire attached to the CRT neck board with the CRT unplugged, there is likely a component on the CRT neck board that is leaky or breaking down. Also, check for decayed (tan or brown) glue which may turn leaky with age.
Good Luck...

Samsung 42" rear projection HD tv issue

1 they are either rebuilt or a defective returned to stock accidentaly
2 yes securly attaching it helps the heatsinks keep even cooler. no you don't need heatsink grease.
3 if the tolernace is very far out of wack then it woun't take long befor they blow. once you have instaled the new board turn on the set enter mute,1,8,3 then perfect focus on the remote let it do it's thing then shut off the tv and resart the tv and press perfect focus again.

Picture changes focus/sharpness instantly and then recorrects

Hi

You can try and get more infornation for me.

Go into the the menu by pressing the WEGA GATE button on the remote. In the sub menu of picture adjustment switch the DRC-MF setting to off. It should read normal.

See if this stoppes your focus problem.

If it changes let me know for further directions.

Screen tuens blue them tv turns off

NOT GOOD NEWS... IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BLUE CRT IS SHORTED. THE ORIGINAL PART IS N.L.A.(NO LONGER AVAILABLE) THEY DO MAKE A GENERIC REPLACEMENT, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY ARE AS GOOD AS O.E.M.
YOU CAN TAKE OFF FRONT OF T.V. AND ADJUST THE SCREEN DOWN ON THE FOCUS BLOCK. IT IS THE BLACK BOX WITH 6 ADJ. ON IT 3 ARE FOCUS. 3 ARE SCREEN . TURN THE BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN , THEN WITH THE BACK OF A PLASTIC OR RUBBER SCREWDRIVER HANDEL YOU CAN TAP ON THE NECK OF THE CRT, NOT TO HARD. SOME TIMES YOU CAN CLEAR THE SHORT OUT OF THE CTR. IF THIS WORKS LET THE SET WARM UP FOR 10-20 MIN. THEN TURN THE COLOR ALL THE WAR OFF, THEN SET THE BLUE LEVER UNTIL YOU HAVE A GOOD BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TURN IT UP YOU CAN DAMAGE THE CTR IF THE LEVEL IS TO HIGH. ERROR 8 IS A.K.B. ERROR THAT MEANS THE CRT'S ARE DRAWING TO MUCH CURRENT.

Tv goes red????

I red drive problem possibly on the red crt board or from the video jungle IC, like a bad red driver transistor, The resistors on the crt board could be changing value, or the crt socket on the red driver board could have poor solder connections on them. This is not a problem that a end user should attempt, as there is high voltages on the CRT drive boards. Going to need to have the tech monitor the set and test untill problem occours. Should not be a big deal .. Good Luck
