Question about Gateway M305CRV Notebook
I upgraded and installed two 512 RAM cards in my gateway notebook MX6027, my notebook only reads the card in slot 1. How do I get my notebook to read both of the 512 cards in both slots? I would like my notebook to run 1GB of memory
Power down the system. Remove both RAMs and keep track of which socket each came out of. Check the slots in the sockets and the contacts of the RAMs for any fuzz or lint (even the slightest bit can cause problems). Swap the RAMs so that each one goes into the socket that it did not originally come out of. Make sure they are well seated and bring power back up.
If that doesn't work, please get back to me.

It is OK to mix chip (SODIMM) capacities in the 2 slots in your notebook.
The best system performance will be when you have 2 x 512MB but for now if you install 1 x 512MB, you could even leave the old chip in the other slot, it'll be fine.
