You can connect the printer to your computer via a parallel cable or a USB cable. Here's the link to the Lexmark E210 User's Guide for your reference: http://bit.ly/aCoWdH. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.
Turn computer off. Plug printer into computer and start computer back up. Found new hardware should come up on the screen. Then follow the hardware connection wizard. Should be able to detect from the
drop down list. And your operation system will install the printer. If not, you can still go the Lexmark website and download the drivers.
Lexmark never updated the E210 driver for Windows Vista / Windows 7. Luckily, the printer is identical to the Samsung ML-1210 printer, which has better drivers that are Vista / Win 7 compatible. (The new drivers also work if the printer is connected to an XP machine, but is being shared with a Vista machine on your network.)
Go to the Samsung Support website (www.samsung.com/us/support/) and then type ML-1210 in the search box in the middle of the page. Click on the ML-1210 result, then click the "Downloads" tab, then below that, click "Drivers." Scroll down to get the correct driver for your system.
Uninstall any old drivers before installing the new drivers.
I had the same problem two years ago and purchased the adaptor also .The port is correct. My adaptor never would work either. The correct answer, for me, was to purchase a Parallel port PCI card and install it. I am still using it to this day as both the paper and the ink ribbon on my pin printer is a lot less expensive for making copies that I don't need to be letter perfect.
Go to the Lexmark website, or look up Lexmark E210 on Google or another search engine. Most likely you can find the information you need, you can download it, and then install your printer. If you don't find it at the first website the search shows you, simply try several others. Almost all major computer/printer companies have the information available for downloading. Especially printer companies, they make their money from you buying computer toner or ribbons or cartridges; they want to make sure you can print.
