Computer does not pick up printer as "new hardware found"

I am having problem installing my lexmark E210 printer. The computer cannot find the printer at all.! I've replaced the connecter
cable from the computer to the printer, but to no avail. The printer works fine on its own printing me its own test page, and cleaning page, but nothing whatsoever from the computer.HELP!!
