go to the control panel and and see the sound open and adjust the microphone for record and make test, if work is o.k. If not you must restore the computer to some date was working before. Or your need reinstall the driver audio. coming with your CD, or software laptop in this HP Compaq. God bless you
The internal microphone is located near the top of the notebook LCD display or near the bottom of the LCD display near the hinge. Use the following best practices to capture sound more easily. Follow the steps below to verify that the recording program on the computer works properly.
Click Start , enter sound in the search field and select Sound Recorder from the list.
Click Record and speak into the microphone. Save the file to an easily-accessible location, such as the desktop.
To play back the recorded sound, open the file using Windows Media Player.
To record sound the internal microphone should be the default recording device. 1.Click Start , enter device into the search field, and then select Device Manager from the list. 2.Expand the Sound, video and game controllers list. 3.Right-click the audio driver , select Uninstall from the drop-down menu, and then click OK to confirm that you want to uninstall the audio driver. 4.After the audio driver is uninstalled, click Start , enter backup into the search field, and then select HP Backup and Recovery Manager from the list. 5.Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the audio driver. The internal microphone is now set as the default recording device.
lol. no im sorry. I'm tell you that there is no built in mic unless there is a built in cam. if you have a built in cam try recording a video with sound. talk laugh play music. Then play it back. Also you can click Start then All Programs then click Accessories.
Now click Entertainment then Voice Recorder. Test to see if it plays you voice back. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Happy Holidays!
have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue.
The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone
settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This
isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours
either. You have to change the settings for your computer system &
Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound>
recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition
Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your
default & apply it. Also .. as a side note .. I disabled the web cam central Live! microphone completely from this window. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the
"Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a
video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow
pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High
Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel.
I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with
sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.
to put that in cam microphone working, as I have an equal trade mark cam, you need to see on audio settings properties and change the "recording device" to usb device, instaid of the soundcard as is. that means that the sound recording goes to the cam's microphone.
the steps are:
1- rigth mouse click on the speaker next to the clock OPEN VOLUME CONTROL
2- OPTIONS - PROPERTIES - RECORDING
3 - in MIXER/RECORDING DEVICE (where is your soundcard's name) change to USB DEVICE and then OK
4- select MICROPHONE and the close the volume control windows
5- you can test the mic settings in messenger (any version) because of volume and to a clearest voice sound in your pc.
ATTENTION: carefull with the distance between your cam and your sound speakers because of distorcing sound and feedback
