ATEC TV loss of Digital reception

Picked up link to your site off of Google even though I am in UK but thought i'd give it a try
Have a 37" ATEC LCD HD TV.
Reception on analogue receiver is good but have been losing digital reception over the last year to the point I can only find one channel now "Engineering Research Test" which is a crystal clear image.
Is there a way of attaching PC to TV and running a diagnostic program to discover fault? or do I need to take to repair shop?

My 32inch Murphy LCD TV can not find the new

This could be a problem to do with your aerial rather than the TV. However, your first action should be a "Factory Defuault" reset. Make sure the TV does a full retune rather than just looking at the channels where the stations were previously.

The TV will have a flat response through the channel frequency range. Your aerial though could be a very different matter. Depending on the type of aerial, and especially if it's a banded aerial that discriminates against certain frequencies, then the retune may well have moved certain channel into frequencies that your current aerial really struggles to pick up.

You don't say what your TV region is, so I can't be specific because you didn't give the necessary information in the question. But I'll give you an example based on my region which is North West England, receiving off the Winter Hill transmitter.

Anyone with a Group C/D banded aerial will be okay picking up most of the channel muxes because they're grouped up at the top end of the frequency range (ch 49~57). That's pretty perfect for a C/D aerial. However, the new Freeview HD channels that give BBC 4 HD, 4 +1HD, BBC News HD is down at ch 37. A C/D aerial will struggle to pick that up because it is far less sensitive at that frequency, and particularly so if it is a contract Yagi type aerial.

The majority of aerials fitted though are the so-called Wideband High Gain. These favour the upper end of the frequency range again. So channel 37 will be picked up. But is is much weaker than the other muxes.

I connected the HD Antenna and did the scan and analog finds zero channels and Digital scan never starts. Does a Vizio GV42L have a tuner? it was built in 2006

Of course, every TV, whether it is digital or analogue will have a tuner. If this tuner get defective, there will be no reception to any channels. Check and replace it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

I have lost digital reception. I can play DVDs and get analogue TV.

You need to make sure your reception is strong enough to receive digital reception otherwise you will only receive analogue reception and dvd playback ability is normally nothing to do with the TV's reception.
Ensure you have strong reception before doing an auto tune to search for the channels. Good luck.

Atec 37" tv remote code

You didn't tell us the brand and model of the remote and it is very possible that none exists anyhow. 'Universal' remotes don't really exist since the electronic manufacturers refuse to standardize any kind of a coding set so later TVs will often have no match in the cable, satellite or aftermarket remotes.
If you need an original remote, there are several sites where these can be found; one of the leaders is Remotes.com

We have a phillips model #32PFL5332D/37 it has a flat screen. Is it digital or analog

Yes this TV should tune to both Digital & Analogue reception. See below I have copied an extract from the Philips technical site which gives you verification that this has digital capability. Hop this is of help to you. Next to analog NTSC broadcast reception, your TV has an integrated High
Definition TV tuner which receives, decodes and displays terrestrial ATSC and
unscrambled cable (QAM) signals.
HDTV quality is only reproduced when a broadcaster or cable provider broadcasts
HDTV signals.
