Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

The reason this occurred is that you likely never formatted the card. The card will work fine in the beginning but eventually will corrupt. AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the card in your camera to prevent this from happening again (dig out that instruction manual to figure out how). For Canon's, go to tools menu and select the item stating the card's capacity. Then follow the on-screen prompts for a "low-level" format.

Keep in mind formatting will also TOTALLY ERASE YOUR CARD, so again only do this AFTER you've recovered the photos!

What do you mean by "not they're gone"? Do you accidentally delete them or mistakenly formatted your digital camera?
Don't worry! No matter what you've done to this camera, you do have chances to get all these lost pictures back, provided that you've not overwritten them with anything new on the same camera memory card.
What you should do now is to restore all the pictures back before they are all overwritten.
Here are my steps for you:
Firstly, stop using this camera or inner memory card immediately in case that any new file would overwrite your original photos and make them gone permanently. So, you should take care!
Secondly, plunge this camera to your computer and prepare to retrieve all your deleted pictures.
Thirdly, apply a deleted photo recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully:

I believe this data recovery freeware can work perfectly on your camera memory card just in the same way as it completely retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card. Just give it a shot!
Fourthly, save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important at least on two memory cards or locations in the future.
Good luck!

My Canon EOS rebel erased the pictures on my sd card

There is freeware programs that can recover your fotos if you haven't tried to place any more info on the SD card. Check on the internet, and try the programs...or, if you're worried that you might not be able to recover the images, take the SD card to a reputable camera shop, or computer store that repairs laptops, desktops, etc. Certainly, someone has a program to recover your fotos.

My apple computer does not recognize canon powershot sx200 is.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in memory card erased permanently.

Those lost pics are still stored on the memory card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the hard drive.

So as long as those photos are not overwritten by new pictures, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try Asoftech Photo Recovery program, which can recover pictures after deeply scanning the memory card to look for lost pics you accidentally deleted or formatted.

I bought my canon sx200 in July, I loved it..this morning I turned it on, the green light displayed, the lens opened to full capacity, then nothing else responded, no picture on screen and no button...

Try removing the additional memory card, remove the batteries for 30 seconds, replace the batteries and thn turn it back on.

If this does not work then the simple answer is return it to where you bought it from a get a replacement under warranty.
