Question about Sewing Machines
Make sure you have the correct needle and it is in with the long groove pointing towards you. If the hook shuttle is rotating and you feel a tight spot when turning the machine by hand it means one of the nylon gears has cracked. If a needle has been broken it is possible the needle bar has been knocked up a little, try dropping your needle down about 3mm and turn the machine over by hand to see if it picks up the thread.
Failing that the timing is out, remove the top cober on the arm and loosen the clamp on the hook drive shaft, when the machine is turned over and the needle is at bottom dead centre the point of the shuttle hook should be about 3mm to the left of the needle.
