Question about Hayward 3/4hp Super Pump Inground Pool Pump 115/230 Volt # Sp2605x7
I have a new 1 HP Hayward superpump. The pump starts and runs for about 3-5 secs and then shuts off. The shut off results in the circuit breaker triping. The voltage stays above 230V until the the pump shuts down. The owners manual suggested that shut down is the result of low voltage but I have ruled this out. I am thinking the pump may be bad.
Any other suggestions.

SOURCE: frig trips circuit breaker
The two other comments posed at you from Blue Dog and 20YRSEXP are good ones and necessary to get to the root cause of the problem however I have a few ideas to share with you that may help.. First off, I am assuming that the circuit breaker you mention is the one that protects the outlet that feeds your fridge power. If thats correct, and you just started to have breaker trips, the obvious question is ..does that circuit breaker also supply power to other receptacles and do those have any additional appliances or 'loads' on them that are drawing current? The circuit breaker current rating is based on the wire size so that regardless of what you plug into a receptacle, that breaker limits current so you won't melt the insulation or have a fire. Also, you should be aware that circuit breakers do go bad and that may be your problem too..
I hope this information helps you...

Check that the motor is set for the proper voltage. They are usually factory connected for 230V and if you have a 115V line feeding it the motor will overheat and cycle the overload as you describe.

You are going to have to replace it....obviously. Here are some places that popped as having the supply you need. I have never used any of them personally.
