Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Dell XPS 420 desktop with a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card installed (by Dell). My issues are two-fold: 1) the Dell motherboard seems to lack audio Aux/CD input connector for my security camera A/V source (PCI cards), and the sound card does not have one either (special build for Dell) 2) can't record sound from my USB microphone. I understand from some of the blogs that my sound card is no longer made, and therefore I need a replacement so I'm looking for a recommendation that will fix my issues. Many thanks! Dave

Blinking amber light xps 420

A Blinking Amber orYellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from thesource but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can becaused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to makesure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cablesto CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Sound card installed, still no sound

Set your default audio device in Control Panel - Sound. Also try disabling the onboard audio on your laptop in the bios menu. Make sure you have the correct drivers for your operating system. - Try to include as much information as possible in your posts to help diagnose the problem.
