SOURCE: alignment

I've seen this happen with clogged heads as well. If even one color of the color cartridge does not print, it will mess up the alignment page. I'd say take a damp paper towel, wipe the print head off. That the area on the cartridge where ink comes out. after wiping, do a "foot print" test. Gently but firmly, lol press the print head into the damp paper towel. You should see a blue yellow and red foot print. They should be about the size of the print head itself. Do this for the black as well. IF you don't see good foot prints, then take them to your local cartridge world and get them replaced!

SOURCE: Printer Alignment Failed in HP C5280

You must replace both with new GENUINE HP ink cartridges at the same time or alignment will fail.

This is how HP makes their money.

SOURCE: HP psc 2110 Printer keeps

Press the cancel button. Then press the "setup" and top "copy option" buttons together to enter maintenance. Use the right arrow (right copy option) button to scroll through the options if you like, but then hit the cancel button to skip the alignment.

Try Cleaning the Cartridges manually and automatically.
For the cartridge clean it with a damp lint free cloth and also for the printheads wher eyour gonna be inserting the cartridges.
Follow these steps do do the automatic aligning and cleaning:
Click Start and then go to Printers and Faxes (XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win 7)
1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Go to Printing Preferences 3. Click the Features Tab 4. At the bottom of the window you will see Printer Services or Device Services. Click on it. 5. Choose Align Printheads on the list.

For Cleaning the Printheads, Instead of choosing Align Printer choose Clean Printheads.
I hope this helped.
Try Printing Again. I hope I was able to solve your problem. :)
