Question about Radio Communications

2 Answers

I installed a cb radio on my 2006 Honda Goldwing. The radio works great when I am the only person on the bike, as soon as I but on a passenger and they plug into the communication plug I get they real bad feed back if I try to transmit. Now if the passenger turns there head away from the antenna and I transmit about 80% of the time I get no feed back. The radio is the radio that Honda sells for the bike and I installed all the filters as the direction said to in the correct places. The kit came with a ferrite (some sort of small magnet that clams on the rear mic cable) that said to but it on the rear communication cable, this made no difference. Is there some sort of filter that can be put some where or some other solution?

Hi Walter,

When you're out riding with your mates, how close to the person you are trying to talk to is from you on the road?

If you are within 2 metres of the person you are trying to contact, neither they nor you will hear each other, keep at least 5 or more metres from each other and you should be able to chat with each other, remember that radio waves need room to move in before they are receiveable.

These units are low powered, that is to say no more than 1 watt rf output power, so the most distance that these radios can transmit to is about 5 kilometres line of sight only.

I hope this helps

Regards,
Peter

Hello,

Did you replace the battery or charge it back to capacity?

If your battery is not at full charge or isn't supplying the correct amps to the electrical system, every time you key your CB it will drop the voltage and other electrical components will stop working - or not work properly.

Make sure that your battery is fully charged and the electrolytes are at the proper levels.

If you put a new battery in your Gold Wing, did you buy the correct battery? A cheaper battery will most like cause problems with the electrical system.

If you find this information useful, please vote on this post. Thank You.

Regards,

Oz
