1997 Cadillac Deville vibration

I lent my car to my son - yes, well. . .
I got it back with two new tires on the back (mine had blown out) and the driver's side tires put onto the front, plus shocks and struts in need of repair. The car had been heavily laden and driven about 200 miles. I drove the car for 5 minutes and noticed that the steering wheel was jerking back and forth (the wheels sounded like they were about to fall off). A loud thudding noise was coming from the front in sync with the shaking steering wheel! I got the shock absorbers fixed, and hoped that this would solve the problem. It didn't. The thudding and steering wheel problem are still there and the car is vibrating up a storm! I've made an appointment to get the two front tires looked at. . .

Help! My car used to drive like a dream - now it's a nightmare of shaking and thumping and wrestling with the steering wheel to keep it straight.

If two tires had blown, I would guess the car was subjected to pot holes, rough roads, or ( ugh ) a curb. I'd check the other two tires for bulges ( broken belts ) or bent rims first.

I have a 2004 sls seville and can't isolate a vibration problem.Had the tires replaced and balanced several timed and no luck. The vibration accure around 60-75 pmh.

First of all I would recommend getting Goodyear or Michelin Brand tires for the Cadillac or any other vehicles. I've had very good luck with these brands, as a technician for tires.

Secondly, I would make sure that the tires are inflated to the max. pressure recommended by the placard on the door.

Generally, 35 psi is the max. cold temperature. But, check to make sure it isn't higher for a heavy duty suspension model, if that's what you have. For instance, on my 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine I have a spec. of 44 psi which is higher than the 35 psi I usually recommend for regular Cadillacs (say like my 1990 Cadillac Deville).

High speed vibrations can usually point to tire problems, as you probably already have suspected.

Good luck on making your Cadillac run like a dream.

Replace headlight housing 1997 dville

Yes, this was done for both sides of my 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine which is based on the sedan Deville.

I got mine off of Ebay for about $120 for both sides. That was a good deal, and they matched.

They met or exceeded OEM specs.

Try Ebay.com for new headlight assemblies.

You'll be glad you did, once you see how brilliant the new ones are, and shiny too.

I would guess incorrectly tightened or installed wheel bearing. Or it might just need to get greaced.
