Excatly the same problem - need to zoom in and out several times to get a focus - is an occasional fault only, not constant. Thought it may have been a battery problem but still there with newly charged ones.

Hi ,i have a tamton 70-mm that it stop focusing manuakly whe n i was using it yesterday, may i ask how it would happent, and how much would cost to fix it?

Do you really mean it stopped focusing manually, or did it stop auto-focusing? If it is the latter, check the M/AF switch on the lens near the camera body and make sure it is set to AF.

My lens will not focus. Pictures are all coming out blurry no matter what setting I have the camera on, and no matter how much I zoom in or nout.

Hi

You know sometimes the lens will not focus if you have a physical damage etc., first of all i would like to clarify some points.

1. Did you place your camera near to a strong magnetic area?
2. Did you drop the camera?
3. Did you use Zoom in Zoom-out continuously at the same time?

for the first point i am sure it was exposed to strong Magnetic field, as and when it is exposed the coil of the zoom lens which move the lens in and out will get out of place and makes it impossible to maintain focus. If so then better is to open the camera and re-adjust the lens. But if you are confident to put it back then open it or try to slowly wiggle the camera and check if it gets better.

Picture are out of focus Is lens housing suppost

There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the USB socket. Make sure it's in the proper position. The flower position is for taking pictures of objects close to the camera, the mountain position is for other pictures.

System Error (Focus)

The systems control board has detected a problem with the auto focus lens, the focus is controlled by a tiny motor that has jammed or there is a mechanical issue with the camera lens. It will require a technician that is highly skilled to deal with the situation, but the repair cost would probably not be justified.

When i turn on my camera to take a pic it is blurry but if i zoom the lens all the way close to the object it takes a good pic.

Your auto-focus is not working. Inside the camera is a motor that adjusts the lens to focus on an object automatically. It is currently stuck to "close" or near focus. However, it doesn't go far focus. Check the focus functions of you camera - try to use manual focus.

Autofocus slow from far to near, or from near to far when take pics.

Try using the limit switch to cut the focus time down, depends on your subject distance, but it may help

HELPPP!! My camera will not focus when zooming at all.

Hi,

is it possible that the focus switch on the left side of the lenses is set to macro, or manual focus? That could make your camera "go blind".

Strange mechanical sound from lens area

Cele, The noise you're hearing is perfectly normal. This generation camera uses a piezo electric focus mechanism to operate the lens. You will notice that the noise goes away if the camera is left alone for a moment while focused on a non moving object, this is because the focus adjustment is made and then the piezo circuit shuts down to conserve battery power. You should have no problems with this camera, it is very reliable. Hope this helps you. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

Zoom Problem

There are two components to a camera lense. One adjusts the final lense distance from the CCD imaging chip the other adjusts the distance between the lenses in the assembly (which zooms the image in and out). It sounds like something inside the lense came loose and when you zoom the lense the focal lense is moving with the rest. The lense will probably have to be replaced if it cannot be taken apart. Odds are something is broken inside anyway. This could be something you might be capable of, I have no way of knowing. If you do not think you are up to the task, have a reputable repair shop do it. Cost should not be excessive. I would think less than $100 US plus the cost of the part. Good luck.
