Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver
You need the program mapinstall.exe from garmin. It comes with the update cd you purchased from them. The whole process it automated once you start the program.

Go on garmin, connect your gps via usb , get map install program and you should be fine, works on any operating system

There is a few ways to get your unit updated to the most recent maps, both require the garmin usb. A onetime update option which is provided on a dvd for 55.95 is just a new map set that you would load to the unit. there is also the option of purchasing a lifetime subscription to map updates for the unit for 89.95, the updates are received via download from garmin.com. the lifetime subscription is the most economic way to go saving you 20 dollars after the second year. http://www.gpscity.ca/search/q=updates/d=1&m=1&s=4&c=Maps

Use the .img file , copy and past it to the Garmin Directory , Good Luck

You can use MapSource to load maps to your GPS receiver or else you can directly copy the map file to your GPS receiver, internal memory or memory card, and name the file as 'gmapsupp.img'. I hope this works for you.
