Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a wonderful 4 years old no-brainer nearly perfect record Canon MP780 All In One printer that just died. I did get a "Waste Ink Tank Almost Full" error message a couple of weeks ago that was difficult to clear, but I did accomplish that - after about a dozen tries. I then printed 2-300 pages fine and now I always get "SERVICE ERROR 6A00." I cannot clear it nor find anything in the paper path. To be precise, I have gotten that 6A00 a few times in the past coule of months and turning the printer off then back on pretty much got it going fine. Now nothing does - not even clearing "ALL." I saw on a recent Google search someone who claimed to have a really good manual for the MP780. Are you the source for that? I did buy (received yesterday) a new Canon MX860 AIO. I am severly disappointed to learn that it has a "Nazi Circuit," that will not allow me to use bulk ink to refill. Mr. Inkjet of Waco Texas told me yesterday that even though they sell resetters, they have NOT found one to work with the new Canon 221 catridges. Is this so? Help!!!!!!!????????? You've got several problems. Okay, let's start with the 'SERVICE ERROR 6A00',

1. This is a problem with the sheet feed unit. Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility. You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself. The printer needs repair

2. Canon MP870 Manual. We are not the source of the manual posted in Google, but you can have a manual for free. Check the link below and have the online manual for free:

Waste ink near full. How do I empty this?

the waste ink is the pads in the printer where the printer cleans the carts (ink). When they fill up they need to be replaced i would suggest taking this printer to a printer shop for replacement. The reason is because the printer has a waste counter on it and it needs to be reset before the error will go away. I would call around your area and see if they can do it and how much. If you reset the counter and continue printing the ink will adventually over flow and can cause serious damage to the printer. I would also call up canon and see what they recommend.
Steven.
hope this helps :)

Where is the waste ink tank?

Issue: Alarm / Power light flashes orange 8 times consecutively (Waste Ink Nearly Full Error)
Solution: Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button to clear the error (1700)
Waste ink absorber error 1700
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that this absorber is nearly full.

Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button on the printer to clear the error, so you can continue the print job. The printer will need to be serviced as soon as possible.

Wast ink

Your MP780 printer has decided you have too much ink from the cleaning cycles in the absorbent pad inside the printer. Go to www.fixyour ownprinter.com and put "MP780 waste ink" into the search function. Follow the leads to find out how to clean the waste ink out and more important to find the code to reset the printer to get rid of the waste ink message.

The printer is indicating "waste ink near full"

Hey,

The waste ink pads should generally be around the cartridge carrier, or below, possibly at the bottom of the printer.

have a look at this page for instructions on how to reset the counter after the waste ink pads have been cleaned or replaced.

Canon mp780 -waste ink near full??

Dear mr perfect,
Few days ago I have answered the same question about this for Canon MP700. Here is my answer:
Waste ink absorber capacity of your printer has rise to about 90-95 %. Tentatively, you can continue printing by pressing STOP/RESET button. When ink absorber capacity reach about 100%, the printer stop working and message 'Waste Ink Tank is Full' appears.
To fix this problem, you need to reset waste ink counter. It strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber after resetting waste ink counter.
Here are steps resetting waste ink counter of this printer:
  • With the machine power off, while pressing STOP/RESET button, press and hold the ON/OFF button. (Do not release the buttons).
  • While holding ON/OFF button, release the STOP/RESET button. (Do not release the ON/OFF button).
  • While holding the ON/OFF button, press the STOP/RESET 2 times and then release all buttons. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • When the COPY button lights in green, press STOP/RESET button 4 times. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • Turn off the printer.
Your printer should work normally now.
