I had a set with a similar issue--at first the tv would suddenly turn itself off, sit for a moment while flashing the power button, then "reset" itself and continue running.
Then one day it quit starting up all together. I couldn't get a picture at all. I was hoping it just needed a new lamp.
I took it to a repair shop and after a few days they said the issue was the light engine in the TV. Repair cost: ~$950. If I tried to purchase a part from the Internet to fix it myself it would still cost ~$700, if you could get one at all (they seem to be back ordered with no ETA, as was previously mentioned).
Instead of investing that much money in a TV that seems to be on the downward side of its useful life, I'm going to get a new set--perhaps with LCD technology, although I hear Samsung DLP TVs are very good. Buying a new set right now is pretty painful, but the best option for me. It was a great TV when it worked.
