Question about Black & Decker Tools & Hardware - Others

1 Answer

I have a rechargeable 18V B&D nail gun I bought for crown moulding. Now I want to change the size (length) of the 18ga nails but I can't figure it out and the manual gives no clues. It is currently loaded with 2" and I want to go shorter. Can you help?

Take the long nail strip out and replace them with the shorter length nails.

The nail gun will not shoot

I don't have that same model but my gun started doing something similar a while back. I was able to disassemble the head of the gun and found that the hammer or piston that drives the nail had rounded itself off and wasn't able to make good contact with the nail head. Instead it pushed itself on top of the nail and got wedged. It's nearly impossible to see the stuck nail or dulled piston head without taking it apart. Hopefully this will help.

I bought a used Bostitch nail gun. Model/serial # N6408406208021. What parts do I change to go from a 1 1/2 inch nail (approx. #6) to a 3 inch nail (approx. #16)? Where do I get the parts?

I do not think that the n64 will take a 3" nail. N64 will most likely fit a 2 or 2 1/2 inch. To verify the length of nail open latch door and measure the width of the slot into the barrel. Take a look at the bostitch n80 series of nailers for more power and longer nail.

Nailer has very little power.there are no nails jammed

What about the compressor,? Is it up to 120 lbs? Does it have a reg on it? Most nail guns run at full steam, no need for the reg at the comp. If the gun isn't leaking air, It should be working. Check it out.

How do you secure an outside corder of crown moulding on top of kitchen cabinets

The base of the outside corner where it meets the cabinet is nailed to the cabinet, the top section that stands out can be secured to the other corner part with a nail across the joint.

If the crown is set to meet the ceiling, then it should be secured there, if the crown is below the ceiling, a brace block can be mounted to the cabinet behind the crown. The outer edge of the brace is cut with a bevel at the same angle as the crown, and the crown is nailed to it.

Nail Gun cost

A good-quality starter set, including both a compressor and a small nail gun, can be bought for around 200 US dollars (USD). More sophisticated models can reach 1000 USD or more. Optional features such as a hard-shell case, safety trigger, and depth adjustment can drive the price even higher. For one-time jobs, a nail gun can also be rented at hardware stores and home repair centers.
