Remove the battery and let dry out good. I could work.

do not turn on your camera. * remove the batteries and memory card first let the camera dry for a couple of days. wipe the contacts of your memory card and backup the data first . if after a couple of days the unit does not turn on check out your nearest service center

SOURCE: Camera not working

i have the same camera as you do and from what expert told me, i have to ship it to Canon or it's authorized dealer for repair. The repair costs about $100 dollars.

In my opinion, it's a rip off!!! :S

Maybe.
Did you fish it out immediately, removed the batteries, rinsed it in fresh water, then let it dry thoroughly before even thinking about trying to turn it on? If so, it MIGHT work again after being dried. Otherwise you may as well give it a good funeral and get a new camera.

Dropped in water

Take out SD card, and battery. Clean all with alcohol on a soft clean cloth in order to remove the salt.
Place all individually on a dry and warm place for a week.

Good luck

I dropped my sony cybershot in the ocean... i am okay if it doens't work again but i want to get my pictures off the digital memory...any way that can happen?

If the memory card has sufficiently dried out and the contacts have been wiped clean with a soft cloth, you can use a card reader to download the pics to your computer.

Dropped into the Atlantic Ocean. Can the camera be repaired too operate again

everything can usually be repaired for a price. But saltwater absorption will lead to eventual corrosision no matter what you do. Cheaper to buy a new camera
