Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV280 Digital Camcorder

2 Answers

I have a sony Handycam SCR-HC26. I can't load a tape in. Giving re-attach power source message with an error code C:32:11 I tried what was suggested, power off, remove battery, put battery back in, power on and then reset. The poster suggested that I do this a few times, which I did, but I still can't insert a tape. I'm right in the middle of editing can someone help please

Thanks for your quick response. I can't even get the camera into VCR mode. It says re attach power source then switches to a black screen with the code C;32:11. This is very strange as I didn't have any problems on Sunday when I was shooting and when I took the tapes out.

I'm pretty handy, is this something that I can fix myself? If so how do I take the tape cover off completely? Thanks for all of your help. I checked online and they want $180.00 to fix it. I can buy a new camera for that!

  • lois745 Jul 01, 2009

Yes please! Thank-you so much. You guys are awesome!

  • lois745 Jul 01, 2009

Hi and thanks so much. Honestly I don't have anything to lose. I just got a quote fro $180.00 to fix it. Seriously I can buy a new camera for that.

  • lois745 Jul 01, 2009

Yes it is the correct camera. I suppose that I'm going to need some special tools for this?

  • lois745 Jul 01, 2009

    Yes please! Thank-you!

  • lois745 Jul 01, 2009

Thank-you, but honestly it looks quite complicated. The cheapest part is $66.00 and that is for the compatible. The sony part is $144.00. I appreciate your time and help, but I think I may have to purchase a new camera.

    ==============================================================

C:32:11 error code shows problem with Loading Time Out. that means if tape mechanism is not loaded in specific time, error code will issued in camera.

No special tools are required to solve this problem. You just replace mechanism in camcorder and precision screw driver set and small fine nose player is enough.

I can give you mechanism part number and part shop there you can buy it online. let me know if you are willing to proceed.
    Thanks.

1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open.
2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode."
3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery.
4. Put the battery back in--out

The issue is with the tape drive, it this doesn't solve the problem its a mechanical problem on the drive, it could be a broken roller.

have a look at this

c:32:11 is a (mechanical) problem with the tape drive, I think you will need to get it looked at if you don't see anything obvious wrong with it.

  • Ekse Jul 01, 2009

It might be possible to fix this at home, we have a sony specialist online, I will direct this guestion to him if you wish?

  • Ekse Jul 01, 2009

I sent him a message, lets see if he can help you. Just hold on.

I have replaced a Windows XP PC with a new PC running Windows 7 Home Premium and I have not been able to connect my DCR-HC26 Sony Handycam digital tape camera to the new PC. I'm using an I-link (firewire)...

Mostly with these cameras you do not need driver (unless you use a USB cable) but like me you have firewire okay? so you should unplug your camera, turn your PC off for a min or two, plug camera in THEN yes THEN put your PC on, and the Win 7 will see your camera and loads setting it needs auto ok.

My sony dcr-hc28 developed a problem where the tape will not reinsert and i get a message "re-attach power source". i re-attach, nothing changes. i remove battery, power source, re-attach, nothing...

apply a DC voltage of 5v to the tape motor at the bottom of the camcorder. you'll find two little semi-hemispheres on top of motor. trial and error to figure out which is positive.

My sony handycam dcr-hc26 door won't close. error C:32:11

Hi,
Remove battery/ power source from camcorder for minute, reattach battery/ power source and close the tape door.
If that does not solve problem then I'm afraid, tape mechanism got defective and will be replaced.
Let me know if you need tape mechanism part number info.
Thanks.

"Re-attach the power source" but tape is stuck, door open

I had the same problem. First, depress the reset button, located on the camera body (where the LCD screen closes over it). It is hard to see at first. It is important that the camera be set to the OFF position. When the camera is whirring after the reset, then hit the EJECT button so the tape comes out. Take the tape out and insert it back. That's it. My camcorder worked fine and let me record or plaback once I followed those steps.
